6. Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and longevity of your EspressoWorks AEW-3000 machine.
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard spent coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under warm water.
- Milk Reservoir and Frothing Tube: After each use, remove the milk reservoir. Empty any remaining milk. Run the 'CLEAN' cycle on the machine by pressing the dedicated button to flush the frothing tube with hot water. Wash the milk reservoir with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Drip Tray: The drip tray should be emptied and cleaned daily or when the indicator floats up. Remove the tray, discard water, and wash with warm, soapy water.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
6.2 Descaling
Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in the machine, affecting performance. Descale your machine regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-3 months).
- Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions.
- Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
- Place a large container under the brew head and milk frothing spout.
- Run several brewing cycles (without coffee) and milk frothing cycles until the water tank is empty.
- Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill with fresh water.
- Run several cycles with fresh water to flush out any remaining descaling solution.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No coffee dispenses or slow flow. | Water tank empty; coffee too finely ground or over-tamped; brew head clogged. | Fill water tank; use coarser grind or less pressure when tamping; clean brew head. |
| Milk not frothing properly. | Milk reservoir empty; frothing tube clogged; milk not cold enough. | Fill milk reservoir; run 'CLEAN' cycle; use cold milk. |
| Machine leaks water. | Drip tray full; water tank not seated correctly; seal issues. | Empty and clean drip tray; ensure water tank is properly installed; contact customer support if problem persists. |
| Coffee is not hot enough. | Machine not preheated; cups not pre-warmed. | Allow machine to fully heat up (approx. 45 seconds); use the heat tray on top of the machine to warm cups. |
