4. Safety Instructions
Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating the pump. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or property damage.
- Electrical Safety: Always ensure the power supply matches the pump's voltage (230V). Do not operate the pump with a damaged power cord or plug. Never immerse the plug or power control box in water.
- Grounding: The pump must be properly grounded to prevent electric shock.
- Water Temperature: Do not pump liquids exceeding 35°C (95°F).
- Flammable Liquids: Never use the pump to transfer flammable, explosive, or corrosive liquids.
- Dry Running: Avoid running the pump dry, as this can cause severe damage to the motor and seals.
- Handling: The pump is heavy (approx. 22.3 kg). Use appropriate lifting techniques or assistance when moving or installing the pump to prevent injury.
- Float Switch: Ensure the float switch can move freely and is not obstructed, as it controls the automatic on/off function of the pump.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the pump and the area of operation.
- Maintenance: Always disconnect the pump from the power supply before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or inspection.
5. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper setup and installation of your submersible pump.
5.1 Unpacking and Inspection
- Carefully remove the pump and all accessories from the packaging.
- Inspect the pump for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. Do not use if damaged.
- Ensure all included components (pump, Storz C 2" coupling, 30m hose) are present.
5.2 Connecting the Hose and Coupling
- Attach the provided Storz C 2" coupling to the pump's discharge outlet. Ensure it is securely fastened to prevent leaks.
- Connect the 30-meter hose to the Storz C 2" coupling. Lay out the hose without kinks or sharp bends to ensure optimal flow.

5.3 Pump Placement
- Place the pump on a stable, level surface in the water. Ensure it is fully submerged for proper cooling and operation.
- The float switch must be able to move freely from its lowest to highest position to activate and deactivate the pump automatically.
- Avoid placing the pump directly on soft mud or sand, which could block the intake. If necessary, place it on a solid base like a brick.
5.4 Electrical Connection
- Connect the pump's power plug to a properly grounded 230V electrical outlet.
- Ensure the outlet is protected by a Residual Current Device (RCD) for added safety.
6. Operating Instructions
Operating your IBO submersible pump is straightforward once properly installed.
6.1 Starting the Pump
- Once the pump is submerged and connected to power, the float switch will determine its operation.
- As the water level rises, the float switch will lift. When it reaches a certain height, the pump will automatically start.
- The pump will continue to operate until the water level drops, causing the float switch to fall and automatically turn off the pump.
6.2 Pumping Dirty Water with Grinder
- This pump is equipped with a grinder function, allowing it to handle solids present in dirty water, such as from septic tanks.
- Ensure the pump's intake is clear of excessively large debris that could jam the grinder.
- Monitor the discharge flow to ensure efficient pumping.
6.3 Shutting Down
- For automatic shutdown, allow the float switch to drop to its lowest position, which will turn off the pump.
- To manually stop the pump, disconnect it from the power supply.
- Never pull the pump out of the water by its power cable. Use the integrated handle.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your pump. Always disconnect the pump from the power supply before any maintenance.
7.1 Cleaning
- After each use, especially when pumping dirty water, rinse the pump thoroughly with clean water.
- Inspect the pump intake and impeller area for any debris, fibers, or solids that may have accumulated. Clear any blockages.

Figure 7.1: Close-up view of the pump's intake and grinder. Regularly inspect and clean this area to prevent blockages and ensure efficient operation.
7.2 Inspection
- Regularly check the power cable and plug for any signs of damage, cuts, or fraying. Replace if damaged.
- Ensure the float switch moves freely and is not stuck.
- Check the hose and coupling for wear or damage.
7.3 Storage
- If storing the pump for an extended period, clean it thoroughly and ensure it is completely dry.
- Store the pump in a dry, frost-free location, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
8. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your pump. Always disconnect power before troubleshooting.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start | No power supply Float switch in 'off' position Motor overload/thermal cut-out Blocked impeller | Check power connection and circuit breaker Ensure float switch is free and in 'on' position Allow pump to cool down, then restart Clear any blockages from the intake/impeller |
| Low or no water flow | Hose kinked or blocked Pump intake partially blocked Air lock in pump Worn impeller | Straighten hose, clear blockages Clean pump intake screen Lift and lower pump slightly to release air Contact support for inspection/repair |
| Pump runs continuously | Float switch stuck in 'on' position Water level too high | Ensure float switch moves freely Allow water level to drop, or manually disconnect power |
| Excessive noise/vibration | Foreign object in impeller Pump not stable Worn bearings | Disconnect power and clear object Place pump on a stable, level surface Contact support for inspection/repair |
