Setup

Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all packing materials are discarded responsibly.

Liner Installation

The Akord Slim system utilizes a continuous liner. A starter liner is pre-installed for immediate use. To install a new liner refill, open the top lid and the inner grey lid. Place the new liner refill into the designated compartment, ensuring the open end of the bag is pulled down and tied into a knot at the bottom to create the first bag.

Disposing of Items

To dispose of items, simply step on the foot pedal located at the base of the unit. This action will open the top lid, revealing an extra-large opening. Drop the soiled items through this opening. The hands-free operation ensures hygienic disposal. Once the items are inside, release the foot pedal, and the lid will close, locking in odors.

Maintenance

Changing the Liner

When the bag is full, or you wish to change it, locate the access door on the front of the unit. Twist the circular lock to open the door. Pull the filled portion of the continuous liner downwards. Use the integrated cutter located inside the door to cut the bag at the desired length. Tie a knot at the top of the cut bag to seal it for disposal. Then, tie a new knot at the bottom of the remaining liner to form the next ready-to-use bag. Close and lock the access door.

Cleaning

For optimal odor control and hygiene, regularly clean the interior and exterior of the unit. The smooth plastic surfaces can be easily wiped down with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Ensure the unit is completely dry before closing the access door.

Troubleshooting

Odor Persistence

If odors persist, ensure the lid is fully closed after each use. Verify that the continuous liner is properly installed and sealed. Regular emptying of the unit (daily or every other day, depending on usage) and thorough cleaning of the interior can significantly reduce odors. Consider using odor-absorbing packets inside the unit if necessary.

Liner Installation Difficulty

If you experience difficulty installing the liner, ensure the refill ring is correctly seated in its compartment. Make sure the initial knot at the bottom of the bag is securely tied but not excessively bulky, which could impede smooth dispensing.

Lid/Door Malfunction

If the foot pedal or access door does not operate smoothly, check for any obstructions. Ensure the unit is placed on a flat, stable surface. Avoid forcing the mechanisms.
