1. Important Safety Information

Please read and understand all instructions before using this heater. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

  • Always unplug the heater when not in use or before cleaning.
  • Do not use the heater in bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar indoor locations where it may come into contact with water.
  • Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear.
  • Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
  • This heater is equipped with a tip-over safety switch and an overheat protection system. If the heater tips over or overheats, it will automatically shut off.

2. Product Overview

The BLACK+DECKER BHVHC15 is a 1,500-watt ceramic tower heater designed for indoor use. It features multiple heat settings, oscillation, and digital controls for comfortable heating.

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the heater from its packaging. Retain packaging for off-season storage.

3.2 Placement

Place the heater on a firm, level surface. Ensure there is at least 3 feet (0.9 m) of clear space around the heater to prevent obstruction of air intake and exhaust. This heater is suitable for floor mounting and can be used in various indoor settings such as offices, bedrooms, living rooms, or garages.

3.3 Remote Control Battery Installation

The remote control requires a CR2025 or CR2505 battery (not included). To install, locate the battery compartment on the remote. A small screwdriver may be required to open the compartment or remove a screw before accessing the battery tray.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

Plug the heater into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet. Press the Power button on the control panel or remote control to turn the unit on or off.

4.2 Heat and Fan Settings

Upon powering on, the heater may default to a fan-only mode. To activate heating, press the 'Heater' button on the control panel or remote control to cycle through the available modes:

  • Fan Only: Circulates air without heat.
  • Low Heat (900W): Provides moderate heating.
  • High Heat (1500W): Provides maximum heating.

4.3 Adjusting Temperature

Use the '+' and '-' buttons on the control panel or remote control to set your desired temperature between 40°F and 95°F. The heater will automatically maintain the set temperature.

4.4 Oscillation Function

Press the 'Oscillation' button to activate the oscillating feature, which helps distribute warm air more evenly across the room. This function is available when the heater is in a vertical position.

4.5 Timer Functions

The heater includes a 24-hour delay start and a shut-off timer. Refer to the control panel or remote for specific timer settings. The timer can be set for up to 24 hours.

4.6 Energy Saving Function

Activate the energy-saving function to optimize power consumption while maintaining a comfortable temperature.

4.7 Horizontal Display

The heater can also be placed horizontally. Note that the oscillation function is only available in the vertical position.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Always unplug the heater and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure no water enters the interior of the heater.
  • Clean the air intake and exhaust grilles with a vacuum cleaner brush attachment to remove dust and lint.

5.2 Storage

When storing the heater, keep it in a cool, dry place. It is recommended to store it in its original packaging to protect it from dust and damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If your heater is not operating correctly, please consult the following common issues before contacting support.
