2. Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury and damage to the device:

  • Laser Radiation: This device emits a Class 2 laser. Do not stare directly into the laser beam or direct it at other people or reflective surfaces.
  • Battery Safety: Use only the specified battery type (Lithium). Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. Dispose of batteries properly according to local regulations.
  • Environmental Conditions: Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight. The device has an International Protection Rating of IP54, meaning it is protected against dust ingress and splashing water. However, it is not waterproof.
  • Maintenance: Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

The Magnusson 15m Distance Measure Rangefinder requires Lithium batteries (not included). Follow these steps to install them:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the rear of the device.
  2. Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
  3. Insert the Lithium batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2. Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press the ON/DIST button. The display will illuminate.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the CO button for a few seconds until the display turns off. The device will also automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Single Distance Measurement

To take a single distance measurement:

  1. Power on the device by pressing the ON/DIST button.
  2. Point the laser aperture at the target you wish to measure to. Ensure there are no obstructions between the device and the target.
  3. Press the ON/DIST button again. The laser will activate, and the measurement will be displayed on the LCD screen almost instantly.
  4. The measurement unit (e.g., meters) will be indicated on the display.

5.2. Continuous Measurement (Tracking)

For continuous measurement, useful for finding minimum/maximum distances or tracking movement:

  1. Power on the device.
  2. Press and hold the ON/DIST button for approximately 2 seconds. The device will enter continuous measurement mode.
  3. Move the device slowly towards or away from the target. The display will update measurements in real-time.
  4. Press the ON/DIST button again to stop continuous measurement and hold the last reading.

5.3. Changing Measurement Units

To switch between different measurement units (e.g., meters, feet, inches):

  • While the device is on, briefly press the CO button.
  • Each press will cycle through the available units. Select your desired unit.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

  • Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • For the lens and display, use a clean, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optics. Avoid touching the lens with your fingers.

6.2. Storage

  • When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage to the device.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
