1. Important Safety Instructions
Always read and understand all instructions before operating this electric pole saw. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious personal injury.
- Personal Safety: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Do not operate while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
- Electrical Safety: Use only with a properly grounded extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Do not operate in wet conditions. Keep the power cord away from the cutting area.
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Keep bystanders, children, and pets away while operating the tool.

2. Product Overview

3. Setup and Assembly
Before first use, ensure all components are present and undamaged. Assembly is straightforward and requires no special tools for tension adjustment.
3.1 Attaching the Extension Pole
The pole saw comes with an extension pole to increase your reach. Securely connect the pole sections by aligning the locking mechanisms and twisting until they click into place. Ensure the connection is firm before operation.

3.2 Filling the Automatic Oiling System
Locate the oil reservoir cap on the motor housing. Fill the reservoir with high-quality bar and chain oil. The automatic oiling system will lubricate the chain during operation. Monitor the oil level window and refill as needed to prevent damage to the bar and chain.
3.3 Adjusting Chain Tension
The PS44008 features a tool-free tensioner. To adjust chain tension, loosen the locking knob, adjust the tensioning screw until the chain is snug but can still be pulled freely around the bar by hand, then re-tighten the locking knob. Proper chain tension is crucial for safe and efficient cutting.
4. Operating Instructions
Always plan your cutting path and ensure a clear area around the branch to be cut. Be aware of falling debris.
4.1 Starting the Pole Saw
Connect the pole saw to a suitable outdoor-rated extension cord. Ensure a firm grip on the handle. To start, depress the safety lock-out button and then squeeze the trigger switch. The saw will begin operating.
4.2 Cutting Techniques
- Undercut First: For larger branches, make a small undercut on the underside of the branch first to prevent pinching and splintering.
- Top Cut: Position the saw on top of the branch, slightly further out from the undercut. Allow the saw to do the work; do not force it.
- Maintain Balance: Always maintain a stable stance and good balance while operating, especially when using the extended pole.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your pole saw.
- Chain Lubrication: Regularly check the oil level in the automatic oiling system and refill with appropriate bar and chain oil.
- Chain Sharpening: A dull chain can cause kickback and inefficient cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when necessary.
- Chain Tension: Periodically check and adjust chain tension using the tool-free tensioner.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the saw bar, chain, and motor housing to remove sawdust and debris. Ensure ventilation openings are clear.
- Storage: Always attach the protective blade cover before storing. Store the pole saw in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children.
