3. Setup

3.1 Initial Time and Date Setting

  1. Setting the Time:
    • Pull the crown out to position 3 (the outermost position).
    • Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands until the correct time is displayed. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set, especially when setting the date.
    • Push the crown back in to position 1 (normal operating position).
  2. Setting the Date:
    • Pull the crown out to position 2 (the first click).
    • Rotate the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
    • Push the crown back in to position 1.

3.2 Bracelet Adjustment

The stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted to fit your wrist. This typically involves removing or adding links. It is recommended to have this procedure performed by a qualified jeweler or watch technician to prevent damage to the bracelet or clasp.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Using the Chronograph (Stopwatch)

Your Festina F20343/7 watch features a chronograph function for measuring elapsed time.

  1. Starting the Chronograph: Press pusher A (top pusher) to start the chronograph. The large central second hand will begin to move, and the chronograph minute subdial will record elapsed minutes.
  2. Stopping the Chronograph: Press pusher A again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time will be displayed by the central second hand and the minute subdial.
  3. Resetting the Chronograph: After stopping, press pusher B (bottom pusher) to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.
  4. Intermediate (Split) Time Measurement:
    • While the chronograph is running, press pusher B to measure an intermediate time. The chronograph hands will stop, allowing you to read the time.
    • Press pusher B again to release the split time. The chronograph hands will instantly catch up to the ongoing elapsed time.
    • To stop and reset after using split time, press pusher A to stop, then pusher B to reset.

Note: Ensure the chronograph is reset to zero before starting a new measurement for accurate readings.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Regularly wipe your watch with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust, sweat, and fingerprints. For the stainless steel bracelet, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

5.2 Water Resistance

Your Festina F20343/7 watch is water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM). This rating means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming. It is not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in to position 1 before any contact with water. Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged, as this can compromise the water resistance.

5.3 Battery Replacement

The watch is powered by a quartz movement and requires a nonstandard battery. When the battery is depleted, the watch may stop or the second hand may jump in irregular intervals (End-of-Life indicator). Battery replacement should be performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure the correct battery type is used and the water resistance seal is properly re-established.

5.4 Storage

When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. Keeping it in its original box or a watch case can help protect it from dust and scratches.
