1. Introduction
The Nippon America KF-235P VHF/UHF/FM Distribution Amplifier is designed to enhance indoor TV and FM antenna signals. It is suitable for all HDTV television broadcasts, as well as standard and HD FM signals. This amplifier helps compensate for signal loss that occurs from splitters and long cable runs, ensuring a stronger and more stable signal for your viewing and listening experience.
2. Product Features
- TV/VCR Amplifier functionality
- AC 110V, 60Hz power input
- Adjustable Gain Control (up to 36dB maximum gain)
- Supports VHF, UHF, and FM frequencies

3. Important Notes and Considerations
- Signal Improvement: This amplifier will not boost or improve a bad or weak signal that is not already present. Its primary function is to compensate for signal loss due to splitters and long cable runs. If a signal is not detectable by your antenna, this amplifier cannot create it.
- Installation Location: TV amplifiers with a power supply, such as this model, must be installed indoors or in a location completely protected from moisture.
- Proximity to Antenna: For optimal performance, install the booster as close as possible to the antenna, and before any coaxial cable splitters that may be used.
- Potential for Station Loss: In situations where a station is particularly weak, but other very strong channels are nearby, this amplifier may amplify everything. This can lead to interference from strong local stations that covers up the weak station you are attempting to receive, potentially causing loss of that weak station.
- Long Cable Runs/Splitters: If a station is particularly weak, and/or there is a long length of cable or multiple splitters between the antenna and this amplifier, certain channels may still be lost.
4. Installation and Setup
Follow these steps for proper installation of your distribution amplifier:
- Choose an Installation Spot: Select a point in your television cable run where the booster can be installed.
- Single Television Setup: If you are boosting the signal for only one television, install the amplifier near that television.
- Multiple Television Setup: If you are boosting the signal for multiple televisions, choose a spot near your antenna line splitter.
- Connect the Cables: The amplifier is installed in-line. Connect the incoming antenna cable to the INPUT port and the cable(s) going to your TV(s) or splitter to the OUTPUT port.
- Power Connection: Plug the amplifier's power cord into a standard 110V, 60Hz AC outlet. The power indicator light should illuminate.
Installation Diagrams:

5. Operating Instructions
The KF-235P amplifier features a Gain Control dial to adjust the signal amplification level.
- Gain Adjustment: Locate the "GAIN CONTROL" dial on the amplifier. Rotate this dial to increase or decrease the amplification level.
- Optimizing Signal: Start with the gain at a lower setting and gradually increase it while monitoring your TV's signal strength or picture quality. Adjust until you achieve the best possible reception without over-amplification, which can sometimes cause distortion or loss of channels.
- FM Trap Switch: Some models may include an FM trap switch. If present, this switch can be used to filter out strong FM signals that might interfere with TV reception. Experiment with this setting if you experience interference.

6. Troubleshooting
- No Signal or Poor Reception:
- Ensure all coaxial cables are securely connected to the INPUT and OUTPUT ports.
- Verify the amplifier is powered on and the power indicator light is illuminated.
- Adjust the Gain Control dial. Too much or too little gain can negatively impact signal quality.
- Remember, this amplifier enhances existing signals; it cannot create a signal where none exists. If your antenna receives no signal, the amplifier will not help.
- Check your antenna's position and orientation.
- Loss of Certain Channels:
- This can occur if a weak station is being overpowered by a strong local station after amplification. Try reducing the gain.
- If your model has an FM trap switch, try toggling it to see if strong FM signals are causing interference.
- Long cable runs or multiple splitters can still degrade weak signals even with an amplifier. Consider optimizing your cable layout.
- Power Indicator Not On:
- Ensure the power cord is fully plugged into a working electrical outlet.
- Check the power outlet with another device to confirm it is functional.
