1. Introduction

5. Installation Instructions (Setup)

Follow these steps to install the FLUIDMASTER Anti-Siphon Toilet Fill Valve:

1. Turn Off Water Supply: Locate the water supply valve at the base of the toilet and turn it clockwise until the water flow stops completely.
2. Drain Toilet Tank: Flush the toilet to empty the tank. Hold the flush handle down until most of the water has drained. Use a sponge or towel to remove any remaining water from the tank.
3. Disconnect Water Supply Line: Unscrew the water supply line from the bottom of the old fill valve. A small amount of water may drip out, so have a towel ready.
4. Remove Old Fill Valve: Inside the tank, unscrew the lock nut from the bottom of the old fill valve. Remove the old fill valve from the tank.
5. Prepare New Fill Valve: Ensure the shank washer is properly seated on the threaded shank of the new FLUIDMASTER fill valve.
6. Install New Fill Valve: Insert the threaded shank of the new fill valve through the hole in the bottom of the toilet tank. From underneath the tank, thread the lock nut onto the shank and hand-tighten it. Then, use an adjustable wrench or pliers to tighten it an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Do not overtighten.
7. Connect Refill Tube: Attach one end of the refill tube to the small port on the top of the fill valve. Clip the other end of the refill tube to the overflow pipe using the refill clip. Ensure the refill tube is positioned above the water level in the tank.
8. Adjust Fill Valve Height: The fill valve height can be adjusted to fit your tank. Hold the upper part of the valve and twist the lower part to extend or retract the height. The critical level mark (CL) on the valve must be at least 1 inch above the top of the overflow pipe.
9. Reconnect Water Supply Line: Reconnect the water supply line to the threaded shank at the bottom of the new fill valve. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench for a final snug turn. Do not overtighten.
10. Turn On Water Supply: Slowly turn the water supply valve counter-clockwise to restore water flow to the toilet. The tank will begin to fill.
11. Adjust Water Level: Once the tank is full, check the water level. It should be approximately 1 inch below the top of the overflow pipe. To adjust the water level, turn the adjustment screw on the top of the fill valve (usually clockwise to raise the water level, counter-clockwise to lower it). Flush the toilet to test the new setting.
12. Check for Leaks: Inspect all connections for any signs of leaks. Tighten connections slightly if necessary.

The FLUIDMASTER Anti-Siphon Toilet Fill Valve operates automatically to refill your toilet tank after each flush. When the toilet is flushed, the water level in the tank drops, causing the float mechanism on the fill valve to lower. This opens the valve, allowing fresh water to enter the tank and refill it to the preset level. As the water level rises, the float mechanism lifts, eventually closing the valve and stopping the water flow once the desired level is reached. A small amount of water is also directed through the refill tube into the overflow pipe to replenish the water in the toilet bowl.
