1. Safety Instructions
Always observe basic safety precautions when using electric tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.
1.1 General Safety Rules
- Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
1.2 Electrical Safety
- Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
- Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
1.3 Personal Safety
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
- Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
- Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source, picking up or carrying the tool.

3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking
- Carefully remove the mini circular saw and all accessories from the packaging.
- Inspect the tool for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. Do not operate a damaged tool.
- Retain packaging materials for future storage or transport.
3.2 Blade Installation/Replacement
Always disconnect the tool from the power source before installing or changing blades.
- Locate the spindle lock button (if present) and press it to secure the blade.
- Use the provided wrench to loosen the blade retaining screw.
- Carefully remove the old blade, noting its rotation direction.
- Place the new blade onto the spindle, ensuring the teeth are oriented correctly for cutting (usually indicated by an arrow on the blade and tool).
- Tighten the blade retaining screw firmly with the wrench. Release the spindle lock.
3.3 Depth Adjustment
The cutting depth can be adjusted to suit the thickness of your material.
- Loosen the depth adjustment lever or knob.
- Move the base plate up or down until the desired cutting depth is indicated on the scale.
- Ensure the blade extends slightly below the material thickness for a clean cut.
- Tighten the depth adjustment lever/knob securely before operation.
4. Operating the Tool
4.1 Pre-Operation Checks
- Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped or supported.
- Verify the blade is sharp and free from damage.
- Check that the power cord is not damaged and is clear of the cutting path.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection and hearing protection.
4.2 Starting and Stopping
- To start: Connect the tool to a suitable power outlet. Press the power switch. Allow the blade to reach full speed before beginning the cut.
- To stop: Release the power switch. Wait for the blade to come to a complete stop before setting the tool down.
4.3 Cutting Techniques
The SPA Hilda Jd3522C is suitable for cutting wood and plastic.
- Straight Cuts: Mark your cutting line clearly. Align the saw's base plate with the line. Apply steady, even pressure, guiding the saw smoothly through the material. Do not force the tool.
- Plunge Cuts: For plunge cuts, ensure the blade guard is retracted. Position the front of the base plate on the workpiece, then slowly lower the spinning blade into the material. This technique requires caution and practice.
- Cutting Plastic: When cutting plastic, use a blade suitable for plastic and adjust cutting speed to prevent melting.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your tool.
5.1 Cleaning
- Disconnect the tool from the power supply before cleaning.
- Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust and debris from the ventilation openings and around the blade area.
- Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage plastic parts.
5.2 Blade Care
- Keep blades sharp and clean. Dull blades can cause kickback and strain the motor.
- Replace blades when they become dull, bent, or damaged.
5.3 Storage
- Store the tool in a dry, secure place out of reach of children.
- Protect the power cord from damage during storage.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your mini circular saw, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Tool does not start | No power supply; Damaged power cord; Faulty switch | Check power outlet and connections; Inspect cord for damage; Contact service center if switch is faulty. |
