3. Setup
3.1 Battery Charging
The battery packs are shipped partially charged. Before first use, fully charge the battery packs using the provided M18™ & M12™ Multi-Voltage Charger.
- Plug the charger into a suitable AC outlet. The red indicator light will illuminate.
- Slide the battery pack onto the charger. The red light will flash, indicating charging is in progress.
- When charging is complete, the red light will stop flashing and remain solid.
- Remove the battery pack from the charger.

Note: The charger is designed to charge M18™ and M12™ REDLITHIUM™ battery packs. Do not attempt to charge other types of batteries.
3.2 Attaching Belt Clips
The included belt clips can be attached to either side of the hammer drill or impact driver for convenient carrying.
- Align the belt clip with the screw hole on the tool's base.
- Secure the belt clip with the provided screw using a screwdriver.
3.3 Attaching Side Handle (Hammer Drill)
The side handle provides additional control and stability, especially when using the hammer drill function or drilling large holes.
- Loosen the side handle by twisting the grip counter-clockwise.
- Slide the handle onto the front of the hammer drill, positioning it as desired.
- Tighten the handle by twisting the grip clockwise until secure.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 M18 FUEL™ Hammer Drill
The hammer drill is designed for drilling in wood, metal, and masonry. It features a drill mode, hammer drill mode, and screwdriver mode with clutch settings.

4.1.1 Installing/Removing Drill Bits
- Ensure the battery pack is removed.
- Twist the chuck counter-clockwise to open the jaws.
- Insert the drill bit into the chuck, ensuring it is centered.
- Twist the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws securely around the bit.
- To remove, twist the chuck counter-clockwise.
4.1.2 Mode Selection
Rotate the mode selector ring to choose between:
- Drill Mode (Drill Icon): For drilling in wood, metal, and plastic.
- Hammer Drill Mode (Hammer Icon): For drilling in masonry and concrete.
- Screwdriver Mode (Screw Icon): For driving screws, with adjustable clutch settings to prevent over-driving.
4.1.3 Speed Selection
Use the speed selector switch on top of the tool to choose between:
- Speed 1: Lower speed, higher torque for heavy-duty drilling and driving.
- Speed 2: Higher speed, lower torque for faster drilling and light-duty applications.
4.2 M18 FUEL™ Impact Driver
The impact driver is designed for driving screws and fasteners quickly and efficiently, especially in tough materials.

4.2.1 Installing/Removing Hex Bits
- Ensure the battery pack is removed.
- Pull the collar forward to unlock the hex chuck.
- Insert the 1/4" hex shank bit fully into the chuck.
- Release the collar to lock the bit in place. Pull on the bit to ensure it is secure.
- To remove, pull the collar forward and pull the bit out.
4.2.2 Operating the Tool
Insert a charged battery pack into the tool. Press the trigger to activate the tool. The speed is variable based on trigger pressure. The LED light will illuminate the work area when the trigger is pressed.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your tools.
- Cleaning: Keep the tool's ventilation openings clean and free of debris to prevent overheating. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents.
- Lubrication: These tools are factory lubricated and require no additional lubrication.
- Battery Care: Store battery packs in a cool, dry place. Do not store them in direct sunlight or near heat sources. For long-term storage, charge batteries to approximately 50% capacity.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the tool for any damaged parts, loose screws, or worn components. If damage is found, have the tool serviced by a qualified repair technician.
6. Troubleshooting
