Your Zavor DUO pressure cooker is equipped with the highest standard in safety systems, tested and approved by UL laboratories. Always follow these safety guidelines:

  • Read all instructions before using the pressure cooker.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • Close supervision is necessary when the pressure cooker is used near children.
  • Do not place the pressure cooker in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving a pressure cooker containing hot liquids.
  • Ensure the automatic locking handle is securely in place before applying heat. The lid will not open when pressure is built inside.
  • Never force the lid open. Ensure all internal pressure has been released before attempting to open the lid.

3. Setup and First Use

3.1 Unpacking and Initial Cleaning

Image 3.1: Key components of the Zavor DUO lid. The pressure regulator knob has HIGH and LOW settings, a RELEASE position, and a CLEAN setting. The pressure indicator rises when pressure is built. The automatic locking handle prevents opening under pressure. Lock and unlock icons guide lid operation.

  • Pressure Regulator Knob: Controls pressure settings (HIGH, LOW, RELEASE, CLEAN).
  • Pressure Indicator: A small yellow button that rises when pressure is achieved inside the cooker.
  • Automatic Locking Handle: Ensures the lid is securely locked during operation and prevents opening while under pressure.
  • Lock and Unlock Icons: Visual guides on the lid to assist with proper closing and opening.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 General Pressure Cooking Steps

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Place your ingredients and the required amount of liquid into the pressure cooker pot. Ensure the liquid level is between the minimum and maximum fill lines.
  2. Close the Lid: Align the lid with the pot, ensuring the handles are aligned. Close the lid by turning it until the automatic locking handle clicks into place. The lock icon should be visible.
  3. Set Pressure: Turn the pressure regulator knob to your desired pressure setting:
        - HIGH (15psi): For meats, beans, and soups.
        - LOW (10psi): For more delicate foods like vegetables and fish.
  4. Apply Heat: Place the pressure cooker on a suitable stovetop (gas, electric, ceramic, or induction) and set the heat to high.
  5. Reach Pressure: The pressure indicator (yellow button) will rise, and steam will begin to expel from the top of the regulator. This indicates that full pressure has been reached.
  6. Lower Heat & Time: Once full pressure is reached, lower the heat to the minimum required to maintain pressure (the pressure indicator should remain raised, and a steady, gentle stream of steam should be visible). Start your cooking timer according to your recipe.
  7. Release Pressure: When cooking is complete, turn the pressure regulator knob to the 'RELEASE' position to quickly release the pressure. Alternatively, for natural release, remove the cooker from heat and allow pressure to dissipate naturally. The pressure indicator will drop when all pressure is released.
  8. Open Lid: Once the pressure indicator has fully dropped, you can safely open the lid. Turn the lid handle to align with the pot handle and lift.
