1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Evolution Power Tools R185CCS 7-1/4" TCT Multi-Material Cutting Circular Saw. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the tool and keep it for future reference.
The R185CCS Circular Saw is engineered with multi-material cutting technology, allowing it to cut mild steel, non-ferrous metals, wood (including wood with embedded nails), and plastic using a single blade. This design eliminates the need for frequent blade changes, streamlining your work process. When cutting mild steel, the saw produces minimal heat, no burrs, and virtually no sparks, resulting in clean, cool-to-touch cuts that are immediately workable.

2. Safety Information
Always observe basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury when using power tools. Read and understand all instructions.
General Power Tool Safety Warnings:
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection (safety glasses or goggles) and hearing protection. Use a dust mask if operations create dust. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
- Specific Circular Saw Safety:
- Keep hands away from the cutting area and the blade.
- Do not reach underneath the workpiece when the blade is running.
- Adjust the cutting depth to the thickness of the workpiece.
- Never hold the workpiece in your hands or across your leg while cutting. Secure the workpiece to a stable platform.
- Be aware that the saw produces metal chips when cutting metal; wear appropriate protective clothing and face shield.
Proposition 65 Warning: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
3. Setup and Assembly
Before beginning any setup or assembly, ensure the saw is unplugged from the power source to prevent accidental startup.
Included Components:
- Evolution R185CCS Circular Saw
- 7-1/4" TCT Multi-Material Blade (pre-installed or included separately)
- Blade wrench (for blade changes)
- Parallel edge guide
- Dust port adapter

Figure 2: Saw with accessories and examples of cuttable materials (wood, composite decking, ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, laminates, plastics).
Blade Installation/Removal:
- Ensure the saw is unplugged.
- Press and hold the spindle lock button.
- Use the provided blade wrench to loosen the blade bolt by turning it clockwise (for standard blades, check blade rotation arrow).
- Lift the lower blade guard and remove the outer flange and blade.
- Install the new blade, ensuring the rotation arrow on the blade matches the arrow on the saw's guard.
- Replace the outer flange and tighten the blade bolt counter-clockwise with the wrench while holding the spindle lock.
Adjusting the Parallel Edge Guide:
The parallel edge guide helps maintain straight cuts. Insert the guide into the slot on the front of the saw base and secure it at the desired width using the locking screw.
Connecting Dust Extraction:
Attach the dust port adapter to the saw's dust outlet. Connect a suitable vacuum cleaner or dust extraction system to the adapter to minimize dust and debris during operation.
4. Operating Instructions
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye protection, hearing protection, and gloves before operating the saw.
Adjusting Cutting Depth:
The cutting depth can be adjusted for different material thicknesses, up to 2-1/2 inches. Loosen the depth adjustment lever, move the base plate to the desired depth indicated on the scale, and then securely tighten the lever.

Figure 3: Adjustable depth of cut for plunge or trench cutting up to 2-1/2 inches.
Adjusting Bevel Angle:
The saw allows for bevel cuts from 0° to 60°. Loosen the bevel adjustment knob, tilt the saw base to the desired angle on the bevel scale, and then securely tighten the knob.

Figure 4: 0°-60° bevel scale for accurate angle cuts.
Making a Cut:
- Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent movement during cutting.
- Ensure the blade is clear of the workpiece before starting the saw.
- Hold the saw firmly with both hands using the main handle and the auxiliary handle.
- Press the trigger to start the saw, allowing the blade to reach full speed before engaging the material.
- Guide the saw smoothly through the material, maintaining a consistent feed rate. Do not force the saw.
- Upon completing the cut, release the trigger and allow the blade to stop completely before lifting the saw from the workpiece. The electronic brake will stop the blade in under 4 seconds.

Figure 5: Demonstrating the saw's multi-material cutting capability on metal, wood with embedded nails, and plastic.
Cutting Different Materials:
- Wood: The saw is designed for clean and consistent smooth cutting in wood, even with embedded nails.
- Metal: When cutting mild steel, the saw produces minimal heat, no burrs, and virtually no sparks. Ensure proper ventilation and wear a face shield in addition to eye protection due to hot metal chips.
- Plastics: The saw can cut various plastics. Adjust feed rate to prevent melting.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your circular saw. Always unplug the tool before performing any maintenance.
Cleaning:
- After each use, clean the saw to remove dust, chips, and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air.
- Wipe down external surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Ensure the blade guard mechanism is free of debris and operates smoothly.
Blade Care:
- Inspect the blade regularly for sharpness, damage, or missing teeth. A dull or damaged blade can cause kickback and reduce cutting efficiency.
- Replace worn or damaged blades immediately with genuine Evolution Power Tools replacement blades.
Cord Inspection:
Periodically inspect the power cord for any signs of damage, cuts, or fraying. If damaged, have it repaired by a qualified service technician.
