Setup Instructions
Follow these steps for initial setup of your LitterMaid Self-Cleaning Litter Box:
- Prepare the Waste Receptacle: Place a waste receptacle underneath the compartment cover in the designated space. Ensure the front edge is securely positioned under the 5 tabs on the front edge of the litter tray.
- Attach Waste Receptacle Lid: Insert the PUSH tabs of the waste receptacle lid into the round holes on the compartment cover. Secure the lid by slipping its edges under the tabs on the waste receptacle compartment cover.
- Install Carbon Filter: Remove a carbon filter from its plastic sleeve and peel off the paper strip to expose the adhesive. Place the filter, adhesive side down, into the diamond-shaped insert in the center of the waste receptacle lid.
- Attach Paw Cleaning Ramp: Snap the two notches of the paw cleaning ramp into the attachment posts on the top housing, directly in front of the waste receptacle compartment cover. Tug slightly on the ramp to ensure it is firmly in place.
- Fill with Litter: Fill the litter tray with hard clumping litter so that the litter level is between the MIN and MAX fill lines located on either side of the box. Use the provided scoop to evenly distribute the litter.
- Connect Power: Plug the unit into a standard electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions
The LitterMaid Self-Cleaning Litter Box operates automatically to maintain a clean litter bed.
- Automatic Cleaning Cycle: The unit features a smart-detection motion sensor. When your cat uses the litter box, the sensor is blocked. As your cat exits the box, the sensor becomes unblocked and initiates a cleaning cycle. The cleaning cycle will officially begin after a 10-minute delay to ensure your cat has fully left the box.
- Rake Mechanism: During the cleaning cycle, an automatic rake moves across the litter tray, sifting through the litter and scooping solid waste into the covered waste receptacle.
- Odor Control: The waste receptacles, combined with carbon filters, effectively contain odors until they are ready for disposal.
- Litter Scatter Prevention: High walls on the litter box help prevent litter scatter, and the paw cleaning ramp helps remove litter from your cat's paws, reducing tracking around the box.

Litter Recommendations
For optimal performance, use hard clumping litter with your LitterMaid Self-Cleaning Litter Box. All clumping litters are safe to use with this box.
Ensure the litter level is maintained between the MIN and MAX fill lines to allow the rake to function correctly and prevent issues.
Maintenance
The LitterMaid Self-Cleaning Litter Box is designed for low maintenance, requiring no daily scooping for up to 7 days when used as directed.
- Waste Receptacle Replacement: Regularly check the waste receptacle. When full, simply remove the old receptacle, seal it for odor containment, and dispose of it. Replace with a new waste receptacle and carbon filter.
- Rake Cleaning: Periodically inspect the automatic rake for any stuck litter or debris. Use the provided scoop and rake cleaner to remove any buildup.
- Unit Cleaning: For deeper cleaning, unplug the unit and wipe down the litter tray and surrounding areas with a pet-safe cleaner.

- Ensure the unit is properly plugged into a working electrical outlet.
- Verify that the litter level is between the MIN and MAX lines. Incorrect litter levels can impede rake movement.
- Check for any obstructions in the litter tray that might be blocking the rake.
- Confirm that the waste receptacle and its lid are correctly installed.
- If the sensor light is blinking, ensure no cat is currently in the box or has recently exited, allowing the 10-minute delay to complete.
