Introduction

Setup

1. Battery Installation

The Hilti PD-S requires two 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries. These are typically included with the device.

3. Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Powering On/Off

To power on the device, press the Power button (usually marked with a circle and a vertical line). To power off, press and hold the Power button, or the device will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Distance Measurement

1. Ensure the device is powered on.
2. Point the laser beam at the target surface.
3. Press the Measure button (often the same as the Power button or a dedicated button with a triangle icon). The laser will activate, and the measurement will appear on the display.
4. For continuous measurement, press and hold the Measure button. The display will update in real-time as you move the device. Release the button to stop continuous measurement and hold the last value.

2. Area Measurement

The PD-S can calculate the area of a rectangular space (length x width).

1. Press the Area button (often marked with a square or rectangle icon). The display will prompt you to measure the first dimension (e.g., length).
2. Measure the length of the area by pointing the laser and pressing the Measure button.
3. The display will then prompt you to measure the second dimension (e.g., width).
4. Measure the width of the area.
5. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

3. Data Memory

The Hilti PD-S stores the last two measurements for quick reference. Consult the device's display or specific button functions to recall these values.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

To ensure optimal performance and longevity, keep the device clean. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Pay particular attention to keeping the laser lens clean and free of dust or smudges.

2. Storage

Store the Hilti PD-S in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, it is recommended to remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

3. Battery Replacement
