Setup and Assembly

  1. Attach the Table Clamp: Insert the table clamp into the designated hole on the underside of the pasta maker base. Position the pasta maker on a stable, flat surface (table or countertop) and tighten the clamp screw until the machine is securely fastened. Ensure the table thickness is between 1 to 3.5 cm (0.4 to 1.4 inches) for optimal stability.

  5. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe down the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth. Run a small piece of scrap dough through the rollers and cutters a few times to remove any manufacturing residues. Discard this dough.

Operating Instructions

1. Preparing the Dough:

For best results, use a firm, well-kneaded pasta dough. A typical recipe for 3 servings includes 5 eggs and 4 cups of flour. Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. Allow the dough to rest for at least 30 minutes before rolling.

2. Rolling Pasta Sheets:

  1. Set Initial Thickness: Turn the regulating knob to the thickest setting (typically '9').
  2. Flatten Dough: Take a small, flattened piece of dough and feed it through the rollers while turning the hand crank.
  3. Fold and Repeat: Fold the dough in half or into thirds and feed it through the rollers again at the same thickness setting. Repeat this process 5-6 times until the dough is smooth and pliable.
  4. Adjust Thickness: Gradually decrease the thickness setting one notch at a time, feeding the dough through the rollers after each adjustment. Do not skip settings. Continue until you reach your desired pasta sheet thickness (from 0.3 to 2.6 mm).

3. Cutting Pasta Noodles:

Once your pasta sheets are at the desired thickness, you can cut them into noodles. The ISILER Pasta Maker features two integrated cutters:

  • Thin Pasta (Spaghetti): For 2 mm wide noodles.
  • Wide Pasta (Fettuccini): For 6.6 mm wide noodles.

Insert the hand crank into the desired cutter shaft. Feed the pasta sheet through the cutter while turning the hand crank to create your noodles.

Care and Maintenance

Proper cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your pasta maker:

  1. Immediate Cleaning: Clean the machine immediately after each use. Dried dough is much harder to remove.
  2. Disassembly for Cleaning: The cutter unit can be flipped over and pins detached to dismantle the construct and reach the rollers for thorough cleaning.
  3. Dismantling the ISILER Pasta Maker for cleaning

Image: Diagram showing how to detach pins and remove tooth combs to dismantle the cutter unit for comprehensive cleaning of the rollers.

  4. Remove Dough Residue: Use the provided cleaning brush or a dry, stiff brush to remove any flour or dough particles from the rollers and cutters. A wooden skewer or toothpick can help dislodge stubborn bits.
  5. Wipe Surfaces: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool.
  6. Do Not Wash in Dishwasher: The pasta maker is not dishwasher safe. Do not immerse the entire unit in water.
  7. Drying and Storage: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling and storing. Store in a dry place to prevent rust.

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

  • Dough Sticking to Rollers/Cutters:
    • Ensure your dough is firm and not too sticky. Add a little more flour if necessary.
    • Lightly dust the dough and rollers with flour before feeding.
    • Make sure the machine is clean and free of old dough residue.
  • Hand Crank Falls Out:
    • Ensure the hand crank is fully inserted into the square opening. While it may not always be a tight fit, applying gentle downward pressure while turning can help keep it in place.
  • Pasta Sheets are Wavy or Uneven:
    • Ensure the dough is evenly flattened before feeding it into the rollers.
    • Gradually decrease the thickness setting, one step at a time, rather than jumping multiple settings.
    • Check that the machine is securely clamped to the table and not shifting during operation.
  • Cutters are Mashing Dough Instead of Cutting:
    • The dough might be too soft or too thick for the cutter. Ensure the pasta sheet is at the appropriate thickness and consistency for cutting.
    • Clean the cutters thoroughly, as accumulated dough can hinder proper cutting.
