3. Package Contents

Your Lumia Wellness Cervical Orthotic Traction Block package includes:

  • 1 x Contoured Cervical Traction Block (main unit)
  • 2 x Removable Base Layers

4. Setup

The Cervical Orthotic Traction Block is designed with adjustable height. The main contoured block can be used alone, or with one or both of the removable base layers attached to increase the height and intensity of the stretch.

  1. Identify the main contoured block and the two flat base layers.
  2. The base layers have grooves that align with protrusions on the underside of the main block and other base layers, allowing them to securely stack.
  3. To increase height, align the grooves of a base layer with the protrusions on the main block (or another base layer) and gently press them together until they fit snugly.
  4. To decrease height, gently pull the layers apart.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for effective use of your Cervical Orthotic Traction Block:

  1. Choose Your Surface: Lie down on a firm, flat surface such as the floor or a yoga mat. Avoid soft surfaces like beds, as they may reduce the effectiveness of the traction.
  2. Adjust Height: Select the appropriate height setting (refer to Section 6) that provides a gentle stretch without causing pain. Start with the lowest height.
  3. Position the Device: Place the contoured block under your neck. The wider, sloped side should face your shoulders. Gently lower your head onto the device, ensuring the curve of the block cradles the natural curve of your neck.
  4. Relax: Allow your head to relax backward, letting gravity gently stretch your neck. Keep your arms relaxed by your sides or over your head, whichever is more comfortable.
  5. Duration: Begin with 5-10 minute sessions. As your neck adapts, you may gradually increase the duration up to 15-20 minutes per session. Do not force the stretch.
  6. Removal: To remove the device, gently roll your body to one side and carefully slide the block out from under your neck. Slowly sit up and allow your neck to readjust before standing.

6. Adjusting Height and Placement

The Cervical Orthotic Traction Block offers three adjustable heights and can be positioned to target different areas of your neck:

  • Low Height: Use only the main contoured block. Ideal for beginners or those with sensitive necks.
  • Medium Height: Attach one base layer to the main block. Provides a moderate stretch.
  • High Height: Attach both base layers to the main block. Offers the most intensive stretch.

Experiment with placing the block slightly higher or lower along your cervical spine to find the most beneficial position for your specific needs. The goal is to feel a gentle stretch, not pain.
