1. Introduction

The AIIAT Wireless Intelligent WiFi Smart Door Window Gap Sensor is a crucial component for enhancing your home or office security. This device detects the opening and closing of doors or windows, sending instant notifications to your smartphone via the SmartLife APP. It integrates seamlessly with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, allowing for voice control and advanced automation scenarios. Designed for easy installation, this sensor provides 24/7 monitoring, giving you peace of mind.

2. Safety Information

  • Power Source: This device operates on 2 AAA alkaline batteries. Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.
  • Wi-Fi Compatibility: The sensor only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. It is not compatible with 5GHz networks.
  • Operating Temperature: Use the device within the specified working temperature range of -100C to 400C.
  • Placement: Install the sensor in a dry indoor environment, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Disassembly: Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. Refer to qualified service personnel for any issues.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present in the package:

4. Setup

4.1. Physical Installation

The sensor consists of two parts: the main sensor unit and a smaller magnet part. They must be installed within 10mm of each other when the door/window is closed.

  1. Choose a clean, dry surface on your door/window frame and the moving part of the door/window.
  2. You can use either the provided 3M double-sided self-adhesive tape or screws for fixation. For tape, ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying.
  3. Mount the main sensor unit on the fixed frame and the magnet part on the moving door/window. Ensure they are aligned and the gap between them is no more than 10mm when the door/window is closed.

4.2. App Installation and Wi-Fi Connection

  1. Download the SmartLife APP from the App Store (iOS 8.0 and above) or Google Play Store (Android 4.4 and above).
  2. Open the SmartLife APP and register for an account if you don't have one.
  3. Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The sensor does not support 5GHz networks.
  4. In the app, tap 'Add Device' or the '+' icon. Select 'Security & Sensor' then 'Door/Window Sensor'.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to put the sensor into pairing mode (usually by pressing and holding a button on the sensor until an indicator light flashes).
  6. Confirm the indicator light is flashing rapidly in the app and enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network password.
  7. The app will then connect to the sensor. Once connected, you can rename the device and assign it to a room.

5. Operating

5.1. Basic Operation and Notifications

Once installed and connected, the sensor will detect when the door or window it is attached to opens or closes. When triggered, an instant notification will be sent to your smartphone via the SmartLife APP within 3-10 seconds, depending on your internet speed.

5.2. SmartLife APP Features

  • 24/7 Monitoring: Keep an eye on your home's security anytime, anywhere.
  • Activity Log: The app maintains a history of all open/close events.
  • Scene Creation: Create custom automation scenes. For example, you can set a smart plug to turn on a light automatically when the door opens, or turn off an appliance when the window closes.
  • Device Sharing: Share control of the sensor with family members through the app.

5.3. Voice Control Integration (Alexa & Google Home)

The AIIAT sensor is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. No additional hub is required.

  • Linking Accounts: Enable the SmartLife skill/action in your Alexa or Google Home app and link your SmartLife account.
  • Voice Commands: Use voice commands to check the status of your door/window sensor (e.g., "Alexa, is the front door open?").
  • Doorbell/Chime Functionality (with Alexa): When using with Alexa, you can set up routines to have Alexa read a custom message (up to 250 characters) or play a preset music when the door is opened or closed.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Battery Replacement

The sensor is powered by 2 AAA batteries. When the battery level is low, you may receive a notification via the SmartLife APP. Replace batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.

  1. Gently open the battery compartment cover on the main sensor unit.
  2. Remove the old AAA batteries.
  3. Insert two new AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

6.2. Cleaning

Wipe the sensor with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the device.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Sensor not connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The sensor does not support 5GHz.
    • Check if your Wi-Fi signal is strong enough at the sensor's location.
    • Verify that the Wi-Fi password entered in the app is correct.
    • Try resetting your Wi-Fi router and then re-attempt the connection process. The sensor has a built-in redial function to auto-connect after a router reset.
  • No notifications received:
    • Check your smartphone's notification settings for the SmartLife APP to ensure they are enabled.
    • Verify the sensor is online in the SmartLife APP.
    • Ensure the sensor's batteries are not low or depleted.
  • Sensor not detecting open/close:
    • Ensure the main sensor unit and the magnet part are installed within 10mm of each other when the door/window is closed.
    • Check for any obstructions or misalignment.
  • App instructions do not match:
    • Ensure you have the latest version of the SmartLife APP installed.
    • If issues persist, contact customer support for assistance.
