Ambient Weather WH32B

Ambient Weather WH32B Thermo-Hygrometer-Barometer Sensor

User Instruction Manual

Product Overview

The Ambient Weather WH32B is a thermo-hygrometer-barometer sensor designed to provide accurate indoor temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure readings. This sensor is specifically compatible with Ambient Weather stations such as the WS-0900-IP, WS-1002-WIFI, WS-1550-IP, WS-2000, and WS-5000. It transmits data wirelessly at 915 MHz, offering a refresh rate of 71 seconds.

It is important to note that this sensor provides single-channel transmission and is intended as the primary indoor sensor for compatible weather stations. It should not be confused with the WH31E multi-channel sensor.

What's in the Box

  • (1) WH32B Thermo-Hygrometer-Barometer Sensor
  • Note: 2 x AA batteries are required and not included.

Setup and Installation

Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the WH32B sensor.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert two (2) AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Once batteries are installed, the sensor will power on and begin transmitting data. The display on the sensor will show current temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure.

Pairing with Your Weather Station

The WH32B sensor is designed for single-channel transmission and will automatically attempt to pair with a compatible Ambient Weather station (WS-0900-IP, WS-1002-WIFI, WS-1550-IP, WS-2000, WS-5000) upon power-up. Ensure your weather station console is powered on and within range.

  • Place the sensor within 300 feet (100 feet in most conditions) of your weather station console for optimal wireless signal reception.
  • Allow a few minutes for the sensor to establish communication with the console. The indoor readings on your console should update with data from the WH32B.

Operating the Sensor

The WH32B sensor operates continuously once powered, transmitting data at regular intervals. It does not have user-configurable settings directly on the unit itself. All data interpretation and display are handled by the connected Ambient Weather station console.

Data Transmission

  • The sensor transmits temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure data wirelessly on the 915 MHz frequency.
  • Data is refreshed approximately every 71 seconds.
  • The effective wireless range is up to 300 feet in open air, though this can be reduced to 100 feet or less in environments with obstructions like walls or electronic interference.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on your weather station console or if the sensor stops transmitting data. Use high-quality AA alkaline or lithium batteries for best performance and longevity.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the sensor periodically with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust or dirt. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the sensor in water.
  • Placement: For accurate readings, place the sensor in a location that is representative of the indoor environment, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or drafts.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No data displayed on console from WH32B.
  • 1. Low or dead batteries.
  • 2. Sensor out of range.
  • 3. Interference from other electronics.
  • 4. Incorrect pairing.
  • 1. Replace batteries with fresh ones.
  • 2. Move sensor closer to the console.
  • 3. Relocate sensor or console away from interfering devices.
  • 4. Power cycle both the sensor and the console. Ensure only one WH32B is attempting to connect.
Inaccurate readings.
  • 1. Sensor placed in an unsuitable location (e.g., near heat vent, window).
  • 2. Sensor malfunction.
  • 1. Move sensor to a more stable indoor environment.
  • 2. Contact Ambient Weather support if issues persist after relocating and battery replacement.
