4. Setup

4.1 Powering the Units

Both the Parent Unit and Baby Unit can be powered in two ways:

  • USB Power: Connect the provided USB charging cables to the USB ports on each unit and plug the other end into a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a USB port.
  • AAA Batteries: Each unit requires 6 AAA batteries (not provided). Open the battery compartment on the back of each unit and insert the batteries, observing correct polarity.

It is recommended to use USB power for continuous operation, especially for the Baby Unit. Batteries provide portability and backup power.

4.2 Pairing the Units

The units are typically pre-paired from the factory. If they do not connect automatically, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure both the Parent Unit and Baby Unit are powered on.
  2. Press and hold the 'Pair' button on both units simultaneously until the indicator lights begin to flash.
  3. Release the buttons. The units will attempt to connect. Once successfully paired, the indicator lights will stop flashing and remain solid.
  4. If pairing fails, turn both units off, then on again, and repeat the pairing process.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Monitoring

Place the Baby Unit in the baby's room, approximately 5-6.5 feet (1.5-2 meters) away from the baby, ensuring it is out of reach. Position the Parent Unit with you. The monitor operates on a 2.4GHz digital wireless transmission, offering a range of up to 150 square meters indoors and 100 meters in open outdoor spaces. Keep units within the effective range for optimal performance.

5.2 Two-Way Communication

The monitor features two-way communication, allowing you to speak to your baby through the Parent Unit. To use this function, press and hold the 'Talk Back' button on the Parent Unit. Speak clearly into the Parent Unit, and your voice will be transmitted to the Baby Unit. Release the button to listen again.

5.3 VOX Function (Voice Activation)

The VOX (Voice Activated) function helps conserve power. When enabled, the audio transmission from the Baby Unit will only activate when sound is detected in the baby's room. If the baby is sleeping soundly and no sound is detected, the monitor will enter a standby status. It will automatically resume transmission when sound is detected.

5.4 Volume Adjustment

Use the volume buttons on the Parent Unit to increase or decrease the listening volume to a comfortable level.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Wipe the units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the units are dry before use or storage.

6.2 Battery Care

If using AAA batteries, remove them if the units will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage. Dispose of used batteries responsibly.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your BILLFET Audio Baby Monitor, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Sound/Poor Sound Quality:
    • Ensure both units are powered on and charged/have fresh batteries.
    • Adjust the volume on the Parent Unit.
    • Check that the units are within range and there are no major obstructions (thick walls, metal objects) between them.
    • Ensure the Baby Unit is not too far from the baby (recommended 5-6.5 feet).
  • Units Not Pairing:
    • Turn both units off and then on again.
    • Repeat the manual pairing process as described in Section 4.2.
    • Ensure no other 2.4GHz devices are causing interference nearby. The monitor has 32 channels to avoid interference.
  • Limited Range:
    • Relocate the units to minimize obstacles like concrete walls or large appliances.
    • Ensure both units are fully charged or connected to power.
