Operating Instructions
Priming the Water Dispenser
After installing a new water filter, it is crucial to prime the water dispenser to ensure optimal performance and taste. This process flushes air from the system and removes any loose carbon particles from the new filter.
- Place a large container (at least 1.5 gallons capacity) under the water dispenser.
- Dispense water continuously for approximately 3 minutes. This is equivalent to about 1.5 gallons of water.
- Discard the water collected during the priming process. It may appear cloudy or discolored initially, which is normal.
- The water should now run clear and taste fresh. If not, continue dispensing water until it does.
Maintenance
Filter Replacement Schedule
To ensure continuous access to fresh, clean water and odor-free air, it is recommended to replace both the water and air filters regularly.
- Water Filter (ULTRAWF): Replace every 6 months or after dispensing 200 gallons of water, whichever comes first.
- Air Filter (PAULTRA): Replace every 6 months.
Regular replacement helps maintain the effectiveness of the filters in reducing contaminants and odors, and ensures the longevity of your appliance.
Troubleshooting Tips
If you experience issues with your water or air filtration system, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Slow Water Flow: If water flow from the dispenser is slow, it may indicate a clogged water filter. Replace the water filter as per the maintenance schedule.
- Bad Taste/Odor in Water: A metallic or unusual taste/odor in water often means the water filter needs replacement or was not properly primed after installation. Ensure proper priming or replace the filter.
- Odors in Refrigerator: Persistent odors in the refrigerator suggest the air filter needs replacement. Ensure the air filter is correctly installed and replace it if it's past its recommended lifespan.
- Filter Indicator Light: If your refrigerator has a filter indicator light, ensure you reset it after replacing the filter. Refer to your refrigerator's user manual for specific instructions on resetting the filter light.
