4. Basic Operations

4.1 Printing

To print, load paper into the input tray. The printer supports various paper sizes including A4, Letter, Legal, Photo (4" x 6"), and more. Select the print option from your computer or mobile device, choose the Brother DCP-T710W, and adjust settings as needed (e.g., paper type, quality). For manual duplex printing, print one side, then manually flip and re-insert the paper to print the second side.

4.2 Scanning

The printer features both a flatbed scanner and an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). For single pages or delicate documents, use the flatbed. For multiple pages, place them in the ADF. Initiate scanning from your computer using the Brother software or directly from the printer's control panel.

4.3 Copying

Place the document on the flatbed or in the ADF. Use the printer's control panel to select the copy function. You can adjust settings such as number of copies, color/mono, and quality before initiating the copy process.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Ink Refill

Monitor ink levels regularly. When an ink tank is low, refill it using genuine Brother BTD60BK (Black) or BT5000 (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) ink bottles to ensure optimal print quality and printer longevity. Refer to section 3.2 for detailed ink installation steps.

5.2 Cleaning

Regular cleaning helps maintain print quality. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior of the printer. If print quality issues arise (e.g., streaks, missing colors), perform a print head cleaning or nozzle check from the printer's maintenance menu or through the printer software on your computer.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Brother DCP-T710W printer.

6.1 Print Quality Issues

  • Smudged or Greyish Prints: Ensure you are using appropriate paper for your print settings. For best results, especially with color prints, use paper with a minimum of 100 gsm. For high-quality photo prints, consider using glossy photo paper and selecting the 'FINE' quality option in your print settings.
  • Streaks or Missing Colors: Perform a print head cleaning cycle and a nozzle check from the printer's maintenance menu. If the issue persists, repeat the cleaning cycle.

6.2 Paper Jams

If a paper jam occurs, carefully open the printer covers and remove any jammed paper following the instructions on the LCD display or in the full user guide. Ensure paper is fanned before loading into the tray to prevent multiple sheets from being picked up, especially during manual duplex printing.

6.3 Connectivity Problems

  • Wi-Fi Disconnection: Verify your Wi-Fi network is active and the printer is within range. Reconnect the printer to the network via the control panel. Ensure your router's firmware is up to date.
  • USB Connection Not Detected: Check that the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer. Try a different USB port or cable.

6.4 Printer Not Responding

Ensure the printer is powered on and not in an error state. Check for any error messages on the LCD display. Restart both the printer and the connected device (computer/smartphone).
