General Card Swiping Technique:

For optimal performance, swipe cards smoothly and consistently through the reader slot. Ensure the magnetic stripe faces the correct direction (usually downwards or towards the indicator lights).

  1. In the software, navigate to the "Read" or "Read Card" section.
  2. Click the "Read" button or equivalent command.
  3. Swipe the magnetic card through the MSR605X unit. The software will display the data read from the card's tracks.

2. Writing/Encoding Magnetic Cards

The MSR605X supports encoding data onto all three tracks. You can also set the BPI for each track.

  1. In the software, go to the "Write" or "Encode" section.
  2. Enter the data you wish to write for each track (Track 1, Track 2, Track 3) in the respective fields.
  3. Select the desired BPI (75 or 210) for each track if adjustable in the software.
  4. Click the "Write" or "Encode" button.
  5. Swipe a blank or rewritable magnetic card through the MSR605X unit. The software will indicate successful writing.

3. Rewriting/Copying Cards

To copy data from one card to another:

  1. First, read the source card as described in "Reading Magnetic Cards". The data will populate the software fields.
  2. Then, without changing the data, proceed to the "Write" or "Encode" section.
  3. Swipe the target blank or rewritable card through the MSR605X unit to transfer the data.

4. Comparing Cards

The compare function allows you to verify if two cards contain identical data, or if a written card matches the intended data.

  1. In the software, locate the "Compare" function.
  2. Follow the software prompts to swipe the first card, then the second card.
  3. The software will display whether the data on the two cards matches or highlight any discrepancies.

5. Erasing Cards

To clear data from a magnetic card:

  1. In the software, find the "Erase" or "Clear" function.
  2. Click the "Erase" button.
  3. Swipe the magnetic card you wish to erase through the MSR605X unit. The software will confirm the erasure.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your MSR605X unit.

Cleaning the Read/Write Head:

Over time, dust and debris can accumulate on the read/write head, affecting performance. Use the provided head cleaning card periodically.

  1. Power off the MSR605X unit by disconnecting the USB cable.
  2. Carefully open the head cleaning card packet.
  3. Swipe the head cleaning card through the magnetic card slot several times, just as you would a regular card.
