1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your FORENSICS DETECTORS FD Travel Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detector. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that can be fatal. This device is designed to detect low levels of CO and alert you to its presence, providing an early warning in various environments such as hotels, Airbnbs, RVs, and during travel.
Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the device and retain it for future reference.

4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Open the cover using a small screwdriver or by sliding it according to the markings.
- Insert one CR2032 lithium coin cell battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Initial Power-On
After battery installation, press and hold the power button (marked with a universal power symbol) for approximately 3 seconds until the display illuminates and a short beep is heard. The device will perform a self-test and then display "0 ppm" under normal conditions.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
- To Power On: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The display will turn off.
5.2 Normal Operation
Once powered on, the device will continuously monitor for carbon monoxide. The display will show "0 ppm" in environments free of CO. A battery icon indicates the remaining battery life.
5.3 Alarm Conditions
The detector is designed to alarm at specific CO concentrations:
- 9 ppm: The red LED will flash, indicating a low-level CO presence. This is an early warning.
- 25 ppm: The red LED will flash, and an audible buzzer will sound, indicating a higher and potentially dangerous CO level.
If an alarm sounds, immediately move to fresh air and investigate the source of CO. Do not re-enter the area until it has been deemed safe.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator shows low power, replace the CR2032 lithium coin cell battery as described in Section 4.1. Timely battery replacement ensures continuous protection.
6.2 Cleaning
Wipe the exterior of the detector with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or detergents, as these can damage the device or sensor. Do not immerse the device in water.
6.3 Sensor Life
The electrochemical sensor has a limited lifespan. While the device is designed for approximately 1 year of battery life, the sensor itself may have a longer or shorter operational life depending on environmental factors. It is recommended to replace the unit after 3-5 years or if it fails self-test, whichever comes first.
7. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on:
- Ensure the battery is correctly installed with proper polarity.
- Replace the battery with a new CR2032 lithium coin cell.
- Alarm sounds without apparent CO source:
- Move the detector to a fresh air environment. If the alarm stops, it indicates CO was present.
- Ensure the detector is not exposed to strong fumes from cleaning products, aerosols, or alcohol, which can trigger false alarms.
- If the alarm persists in fresh air, the sensor may be faulty or at the end of its life. Contact support.
- Display shows "Err" or other error codes:
- Power off the device and power it back on.
- If the error persists, the device may have a malfunction. Contact support.
