1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and proper use, assembly, and maintenance of your SmarTrike Smartfold 300 Folding Baby Tricycle. The Smartfold 300 is designed to adapt to your child's developmental stages, offering a versatile and comfortable riding experience from 10 months up to 36 months. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product and retain it for future reference.
2. Safety Information
Your child's safety is paramount. Always ensure the tricycle is used under direct adult supervision.
- Always use the adjustable 5-point harness to secure your child in the seat.
- Ensure the parent-controlled brake system is engaged when the tricycle is stationary.
- Regularly check all parts for secure attachment and signs of wear or damage. Do not use if any part is damaged.
- Ensure your child wears appropriate safety gear, such as a helmet, especially when transitioning to independent riding.
- Do not use the tricycle near stairs, on steep inclines, or in traffic.
- The tricycle is designed for children aged 10 months and up. Always adhere to the recommended age and weight limits.
- Keep children away from moving parts during adjustments or folding.
3. Assembly
The SmarTrike Smartfold 300 is designed for minimal assembly. It arrives largely pre-assembled and folded. Follow these general steps to prepare your tricycle for its first use. For detailed visual instructions, refer to the included quick start guide or manufacturer's online resources.
- Unfolding the Tricycle: Release the folding mechanism latches and carefully unfold the tricycle until it locks into its open position. Ensure all locking mechanisms are securely engaged.
- Attaching Wheels (if necessary): If wheels are not pre-attached, snap them into place until you hear a click, ensuring they are firmly secured.
- Installing Parent Handle: Insert the telescopic parent handle into its designated slot at the rear of the tricycle. Pull it up until the pin engages, then secure it with the red levers. Ensure it is firm and does not slide.
- Adjusting Canopy and Seat: Adjust the canopy for sun protection and position the seat and harness according to your child's size.

4. Operating Modes (Stages of Use)
The SmarTrike Smartfold 300 adapts through multiple stages to grow with your child.

- Stage 1: Folded (For Storage & Travel)
The tricycle can be compactly folded for easy storage and transport. This stage is ideal for carrying the trike in a car trunk or storing it in small spaces.

Figure 4.2: The tricycle in its folded state, demonstrating portability. - Stage 2: Parent-Controlled Tricycle (10 Months+)
At this stage, the child is secured with the 5-point harness and safety bar. The parent controls steering and movement using the telescopic handle. The footrest is engaged for the child's comfort, and the canopy provides sun protection.

Figure 4.3: Early stage use with parent control and full safety features. - Stage 3: Parent-Controlled with Developing Skills (18 Months+)
Similar to Stage 2, but the child may begin to show interest in steering. The safety bar remains in place, and the parent maintains control. The canopy can be removed if not needed.
- Stage 4: Training Tricycle (24 Months+)
The safety bar is removed, allowing the child more freedom. The parent still controls steering, but the child can practice pedaling with the removable pedals engaged. The foldable footrest is retracted.
- Stage 5: Independent Tricycle with Parent Assist (30 Months+)
The child can now steer and pedal independently. The parent handle can be removed, or used for occasional assistance. The child develops full control over the tricycle.
- Stage 6: Fully Independent Tricycle (32-36 Months)
All parent-assist components are removed, and the child enjoys a fully independent tricycle experience, promoting balance and coordination.
