2. Getting Started

Unpacking and Components

Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the unit for any damage. Ensure all components are present before initial use.

  • Pressure Release Valve: Easily releases pressure.
  • Pressure Lid: Used for quickly tenderizing and cooking ingredients.
  • Reversible Rack: Use to steam or reverse to broil.
  • Cook & Crisp Layered Insert: Increases the Cook & Crisp Basket's capacity.
  • Cook & Crisp Basket: 5-quart nonstick, ceramic-coated basket fits 4 lbs of French fries.
  • Crisping Lid: Used to finish off pressure-cooked recipes or to air fry food.
  • Cooking Pot: 8-quart nonstick, ceramic-coated cooking pot fits a 7-lb roast.

Initial Use

Before first use, wash the cooking pot, Cook & Crisp Basket, and reversible rack in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. The main unit should be wiped clean with a damp cloth.

3. Operating Modes

The Ninja Foodi offers 9 distinct cooking functions. Select the desired function using the control panel.

Pressure Cook

Use the pressure lid for this function. It cooks food quickly by using superheated steam under pressure, locking in juices and flavor. Ideal for meats, stews, and beans.

Air Crisp

Utilize the crisping lid and Cook & Crisp Basket for this function. It circulates hot air to give foods a crispy, golden finish with little to no oil. Perfect for fries, chicken, and vegetables.

Slow Cook

Use the pressure lid (without sealing) for slow cooking. This function is ideal for tenderizing ingredients over a longer period, perfect for stews and pot roasts.

Steam

Use the pressure lid for steaming. This function gently cooks delicate foods like vegetables and seafood, preserving nutrients and flavor.

Sear/Sauté

This function allows you to sear meats or sauté vegetables directly in the cooking pot before pressure cooking or slow cooking, building flavor in one pot.

Bake/Roast

Use the crisping lid for baking and roasting. This function is suitable for preparing baked goods, roasted vegetables, or small cuts of meat.

Broil

Use the crisping lid for broiling. This function provides high heat from above to quickly brown and crisp the top layer of food.

Dehydrate

Use the crisping lid and reversible rack for dehydrating. This function removes moisture from food, preserving it for longer periods. Ideal for making fruit leathers, jerky, and dried herbs.

Yogurt

This function allows you to make homemade yogurt. Follow specific recipes for best results.

4. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Ninja Foodi.

Cleaning Instructions

  • Always unplug the unit before cleaning.
  • The cooking pot, Cook & Crisp Basket, and reversible rack are easy to clean with warm, soapy water.
  • Note: The main unit and crisping lid are NOT dishwasher safe. Wipe them clean with a damp cloth.
  • Ensure all parts are completely dry before storing.
