4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to cook perfect rice with your Professional Series Rice Cooker.

Cooking Rice:

  1. Measure the desired amount of rice using the provided measuring cup. One cup of raw rice typically yields two cups of cooked rice.
  2. Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch.
  3. Place the rinsed rice into the non-stick inner pot.
  4. Add the appropriate amount of water according to the rice-to-water ratio table below. The inner pot also has water level markings for convenience.
  5. Place the inner pot into the rice cooker base unit and cover with the glass lid.
  6. Plug the power cord into a 120V AC electrical outlet. The 'Warm' indicator light will illuminate.
  7. Press the 'Cook' switch down. The 'Cook' indicator light will illuminate, and cooking will begin.
  8. Once the rice is cooked, the 'Cook' light will automatically switch off, and the 'Warm' light will illuminate, indicating the cooker has switched to Keep Warm mode.
  9. Allow the rice to rest in Keep Warm mode for 5-10 minutes before serving. This allows the rice to fully absorb moisture and become fluffy.
  10. Unplug the rice cooker from the outlet after serving.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your rice cooker.

Cleaning Instructions:

  1. Always unplug the rice cooker from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Remove the inner pot and glass lid. These parts are recommended for hand washing only. Wash them with warm, soapy water using a soft sponge or cloth.
  3. Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or metal utensils on the non-stick inner pot, as this can damage the coating.
  4. Rinse the inner pot and lid thoroughly and dry them completely before storing or reassembling.
  5. Wipe the exterior of the rice cooker base unit with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn stains, a mild detergent can be used.
  6. Never immerse the rice cooker base unit, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
  7. Ensure all parts are dry before plugging the appliance back in.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your rice cooker, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Rice is undercooked or too hard:
    • Ensure the correct rice-to-water ratio was used. Refer to the guide in Section 4.
    • Make sure the lid was securely placed during cooking to prevent steam escape.
    • Do not lift the lid frequently during cooking.
    • If the cooker switches to 'Warm' too early, ensure the inner pot is clean and dry on the outside before placing it in the base unit. Any moisture or debris can interfere with the temperature sensor.
  • Rice is overcooked or mushy:
    • Reduce the amount of water used slightly.
    • Ensure rice was properly rinsed to remove excess starch.
  • Water or foam spills out during cooking:
    • This can happen with certain types of rice or if too much water is used. Reduce the amount of water slightly.
    • Ensure the inner pot is not overfilled. Do not exceed the maximum fill line.
  • Rice cooker does not turn on:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into both the cooker and a working electrical outlet.
    • Ensure the 'Cook' switch is pressed down.
  • Cooker switches to 'Warm' but rice is not cooked:
    • This can occur if the inner pot is not making proper contact with the heating element or if there's debris. Remove the inner pot, clean the bottom and the heating plate, and reinsert.
    • Ensure the correct amount of water was added. Insufficient water can cause premature switching.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact customer support.
