Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of your Bestway Flowclear Sand Filter System with ChemConnect. This system is designed to keep your above-ground pool water clean and clear by filtering out debris and distributing pool chemicals. Setup

Follow these steps for proper installation of your sand filter system:

1. Placement: Position the sand filter system on a firm, level surface, at least 2 meters (6.5 feet) away from the pool. Ensure it is protected from direct sunlight and adverse weather conditions.
2. Adding Filter Media: Unscrew the multi-port valve from the top of the filter tank. Carefully pour approximately 9 kg of No. 20 quartz sand (grain size 0.45-0.85 mm) or Bestway Polysphere filter balls into the tank. Do not overfill. Ensure the standpipe is centered during this process.
3. Multi-Port Valve Installation: Reattach the multi-port valve to the filter tank, ensuring a tight seal. The top flange clamp allows for 360-degree rotation for easy hose connection.
4. Hose Connections: Connect the hoses from your pool to the appropriate ports on the filter system. The system includes adapters for 3.8 cm (1.5 inch) connections. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.
5. ChemConnect Dispenser: Attach the ChemConnect dispenser to the outlet nozzle of the pool. This dispenser will distribute chlorine evenly into the pool water.
6. Initial Startup (Backwash & Rinse): Before first use, perform a backwash and rinse cycle. Refer to the 'Operating' section for detailed instructions on using the multi-port valve. This removes any fine particles from the new filter media.

Operating

The multi-port valve on top of the filter tank controls the system's functions. Always turn off the pump before changing the valve position.

• Filter: This is the standard operating mode for daily filtration. Water is pumped through the sand, filtered, and returned to the pool.
• Backwash: Used to clean the filter media. Water flows in reverse through the sand, dislodging trapped debris, and is discharged through the waste port. Perform until water runs clear (typically 2-3 minutes).
• Rinse: After backwashing, this mode settles the sand and flushes any remaining dirty water to waste. Run for 30-60 seconds.
• Waste: Drains water directly from the pool, bypassing the filter. Useful for lowering pool water level or vacuuming heavy debris directly to waste.
• Recirculate: Circulates pool water without filtering it through the sand. Useful for distributing chemicals quickly.
• Closed: Shuts off all flow to the filter. Use this setting when performing maintenance on the pump or filter.

ChemConnect Dispenser Usage: Open the dispenser and insert chlorine tablets. Adjust the dispenser's opening to control the release rate of chemicals into the pool, maintaining optimal water chemistry.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your filter system.

• Backwash and Rinse: Perform backwashing and rinsing regularly, or when the pressure gauge indicates a higher-than-normal reading (typically 0.1-0.2 bar above the clean filter pressure).
• Pre-Filter Basket: Periodically check and clean the pre-filter basket located on the pump. Turn off the pump, open the basket lid, remove and clean any debris, then reassemble.
• Filter Media Replacement: Quartz sand typically lasts up to three years. Bestway Polysphere filter balls may require cleaning or replacement as needed, depending on usage.
• Winterization: Before freezing temperatures, drain all water from the pump, hoses, and filter tank. Store the system in a dry, protected area.
