Setup and Installation

Mounting the Amplifier

Due to its compact design, the ACM-4.300 can be mounted in various locations. Choose a secure, dry, and well-ventilated spot away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Ensure adequate space for wiring and airflow around the amplifier.

Wiring Connections

Power and Ground Connections

  • +12V (Power): Connect directly to the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery using a fuse holder within 18 inches of the battery.
  • GND (Ground): Connect to a clean, bare metal chassis point in the vehicle. Ensure a solid, low-resistance connection.
  • REM (Remote Turn-On): Connect to the remote output of your head unit. If using speaker-level inputs with GTO™ Signal Sense, this connection may not be required.

Input Connections

  • Speaker Level Inputs: For integration with factory OEM systems, connect the speaker wires from your head unit or factory amplifier directly to the speaker level input terminals.
  • RCA Line Inputs: For aftermarket head units with RCA pre-outs, connect RCA cables from the head unit to the amplifier's RCA input jacks.

Speaker Output Connections

  • Connect your speakers to the corresponding speaker output terminals. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
  • The amplifier supports 2-Ohm stereo operation and 4-Ohm bridged operation. Refer to the specifications for power ratings.

Operating Instructions

Gain Adjustment

The gain controls on the amplifier match the output voltage of your head unit to the amplifier's input sensitivity. Adjust the gain carefully to prevent distortion.

  • Start with the gain controls set to minimum.
  • Turn your head unit volume up to about 75% of its maximum.
  • Slowly increase the amplifier's gain control until you hear slight distortion, then back it off slightly.

Crossover Settings

The Linkwitz-Riley Crossover allows you to filter frequencies sent to your speakers, optimizing sound quality and protecting speakers.

  • High-Pass Filter (HPF): Allows frequencies above the set point to pass through. Useful for protecting smaller speakers from low bass.
  • Low-Pass Filter (LPF): Allows frequencies below the set point to pass through. Typically used for subwoofers.
  • Adjust the crossover frequency according to your speaker's specifications and desired sound.

GTO™ Signal Sense

The GTO™ (Great Turn On) Signal Sense feature automatically detects an audio signal on the speaker-level inputs and turns the amplifier on. When the audio signal is removed, the amplifier will turn off after a short delay. This eliminates the need for a separate remote turn-on wire when using speaker-level inputs.

Maintenance

The AudioControl ACM-4.300 amplifier requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure continued performance:

  • Keep the amplifier clean and free of dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
