Setup

Before using your Sony RX100V Cyber-Shot Digital Camera, please follow these initial setup steps:

  1. Charge the Battery: Connect the camera to the supplied AC adapter using the USB cable. The charging indicator will light up. Once charging is complete, the indicator will turn off.
  2. Insert Battery and Memory Card: Open the battery/memory card cover on the bottom of the camera. Insert the charged battery with the correct orientation until it clicks into place. Insert a compatible memory card (SD card recommended) into the memory card slot until it clicks. Close the cover securely.
  3. Attach Wrist Strap: Thread the wrist strap through the strap eyelet on the camera body and secure it to prevent accidental drops.
  4. Initial Settings: Turn on the camera using the ON/OFF button. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the date, time, and language.
  5. Optional Grip Attachment: If you have an L-shaped wooden handle or similar accessory (like the SmallRig LCS2467 shown in some demonstrations), align the accessory's mounting screw with the camera's tripod socket on the bottom. Use the provided Allen key or a coin to tighten the screw securely, ensuring the grip is firmly attached and does not obstruct the battery/memory card compartment or other ports.

  • Cleaning the Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a lens brush to gently remove dust and smudges. For stubborn marks, use a lens cleaning solution applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens.
  • Cleaning the Camera Body: Wipe the camera body with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid fully discharging batteries frequently.
  • Storage: When storing the camera for extended periods, remove the battery. Store the camera in a dry, dust-free environment, preferably with a desiccant to prevent mold and mildew.
