Setup
1. Battery Installation
The handle requires two C-size batteries (not included).
- Unscrew the bottom cap of the handle.
- Insert two C-size batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Screw the bottom cap back on securely.
2. Attaching the Otoscope/Ophthalmoscope Head
The otoscope and ophthalmoscope heads attach to the handle using a bayonet locking system.
- Align the head with the handle.
- Push down gently and twist clockwise until it locks into place.
- To remove, push down and twist counter-clockwise.

- Attach the otoscope head to the handle.
- Select an appropriate size reusable or disposable ear speculum and attach it to the otoscope head.
- Turn on the light by rotating the switch on the handle.
- Gently insert the speculum into the ear canal to visualize the tympanic membrane. The otoscope provides 3X magnification.
Ophthalmoscope Operation

- Attach the ophthalmoscope head to the handle.
- Turn on the light.
- Adjust the lens correction knob to focus on the patient's retina.
- Position the ophthalmoscope approximately 15 cm from the patient's eye and direct the light beam into the pupil.
Using the Nasal Adapter

The nasal adapter can be attached to the handle for examining the nasal cavity. Ensure the light is on for proper visualization.
Using the Tongue Depressor and Illuminator

Attach the illuminator to the handle. Use the tongue depressor to gently hold down the patient's tongue while using the illuminator to light up the oral cavity and oropharynx for examination.
Maintenance and Care
Cleaning
- Reusable Specula: Clean with soap and water, then sterilize according to standard medical practices.
- Disposable Specula: Discard after single use.
- Instrument Heads and Handle: Wipe with a soft cloth dampened with a mild disinfectant. Do not immerse in liquid.
- Ensure all components are dry before storage.
Storage
Store the diagnostic set in its protective leather case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
Bulb Replacement
If the light dims or fails, replace the bulb with one of the provided replacement bulbs. Refer to the specific head (otoscope or ophthalmoscope) for bulb access.
