1. Product Overview

2. Important Safety Instructions

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, observe the following:

  • Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by qualified person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction.
  • Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to prevent back-drafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer’s guideline and safety standards such as those published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.
  • When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other hidden utilities.
  • Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.
  • Do not use this fan with any solid-state speed control device other than the one provided or specified by the manufacturer.
  • Always disconnect power at the service panel before servicing or cleaning the unit.

4. Setup and Installation

This exhaust fan requires hardwired installation. It is designed for wall mount applications and is compatible with 17.5" x 17.5" roof curbs. For optimal performance, it is recommended for kitchen hood sizes ranging from 8 feet to 10 feet.

4.1 Mounting

  • The unit features an integrated aluminum curb cap for secure mounting.
  • Ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound to support the fan's weight (approximately 59 pounds).

4.2 Electrical Connection

  • The fan operates on 115V single phase power.
  • A conduit post through the windband is provided for electrical wiring.
  • Connect the fan to a dedicated circuit as per local electrical codes.
  • Utilize the integrated disconnect switch for safe power isolation during installation and maintenance.

5. Operating Instructions

The HOODMART 2000 CFM Exhaust Fan is controlled via a push-button interface and includes a variable speed control for precise airflow management.

5.1 Power On/Off

  • Locate the main power switch for the unit.
  • Press the ON button to start the fan.
  • Press the OFF button to stop the fan.

5.2 Variable Speed Control

  • The included variable speed control allows you to adjust the fan's RPM (Revolutions Per Minute).
  • Turn the control knob clockwise to increase fan speed and airflow.
  • Turn the control knob counter-clockwise to decrease fan speed, which is useful for light-duty cooking scenarios.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your HOODMART exhaust fan. This direct drive fan is designed for easier maintenance compared to belt drive systems.

6.1 General Cleaning

  • Before any cleaning, ensure the power to the unit is disconnected at the service panel.
  • The fan motor is encased in a weather-tight compartment with permanently lubricated bearings, requiring no lubrication.
  • Utilize the quick release hood latches to access the internal components for cleaning.
  • Clean the exterior and accessible interior surfaces with a mild detergent and a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

6.2 Filter Maintenance

  • The unit uses a mesh filter type. Regularly inspect and clean or replace the mesh filter as needed to maintain optimal airflow and prevent grease buildup.
  • A drain hole is provided for grease and moisture runoff. Ensure it remains clear and unobstructed.
