Proper wiring is crucial for the safe and correct operation of the temperature controller. Refer to the terminal diagram below for connections.

Image 5.1.1: Detailed terminal connection diagram for the Autonics TX4S controller, showing power input (100-240VAC), sensor input (RTD, TC), and various output options including ALARM, SSR drive, and Current output.
5.1 Power Supply Connection
- Connect the 100-240VAC~ 50/60Hz power supply to terminals 5 and 6 as indicated in the diagram.
- Ensure the power source matches the controller's specified voltage range.
5.2 Sensor Input Connection
- Connect your temperature sensor (RTD or Thermocouple) to terminals 10, 11, and 12.
- For RTD sensors, connect to terminals 10 (B), 11 (A), and 12 (B').
- For Thermocouple (TC) sensors, connect to terminals 11 (TC+) and 12 (TC-).
- Ensure correct polarity for Thermocouple connections.
5.3 Control Output Connection
- SSR Drive Output: Connect to terminals 3 and 4. This output provides 12VDC for driving a Solid State Relay.
- Current Output (DC0/4-20mA): Connect to terminals 17 and 18.
5.4 Alarm Output Connection
- Alarm 1 Output: Connect to terminals 7 and 8.
- Alarm 2 Output: Connect to terminals 8 and 9.
- These are relay outputs (250VAC 3A resistive load).
6. Setup
6.1 Initial Power-Up
After completing all wiring, apply power to the controller. The display will show the current Process Value (PV) and Set Value (SV).
6.2 Parameter Settings
To access and adjust parameters, press the MODE button. Use the arrow keys (⬇, ⬆) to navigate through parameters and adjust values. Press MODE again to save changes and move to the next parameter or exit the setting mode.
- Input Type: Select the type of temperature sensor connected (e.g., RTD, K, J, T).
- Control Mode: Choose between ON/OFF, P, PI, PD, or PID control based on your application requirements.
- Set Value (SV): Adjust the desired target temperature.
- PID Parameters (P, I, D): If using PID control, fine-tune these values for optimal performance. Auto-tuning functions may be available to simplify this process.
- Alarm Settings: Configure alarm types (e.g., high, low, deviation) and set points.
Refer to the detailed programming manual (if available separately) for a complete list of parameters and their functions.
7. Operating
7.1 Monitoring Process Value (PV) and Set Value (SV)
Once configured, the controller will continuously display the current Process Value (PV) and the Set Value (SV) on its LCD screen. The PV represents the actual temperature measured by the sensor, while the SV is the target temperature.
7.2 Control Modes
- ON/OFF Control: The output turns ON when the PV is below the SV and OFF when it exceeds the SV (or vice-versa, depending on heating/cooling mode).
- PID Control: Proportional-Integral-Derivative control provides more precise temperature regulation by calculating the required output based on the error between PV and SV, the accumulation of past errors, and the rate of change of the error.
8. Maintenance
8.1 Cleaning
- Disconnect power before cleaning.
- Wipe the display and casing with a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or water directly on the unit.
8.2 Inspection
- Periodically check wiring connections for tightness and signs of damage.
- Ensure the controller is free from dust accumulation, especially around ventilation openings.
- Verify that the display is clear and all functions operate as expected.
