Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your HEKEE Motion Sensor LED Light Bulb (Model BR18-SF2Q). Please read these instructions carefully before use to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Important Safety Information
- This PIR motion sensor light bulb cannot work through glass or any lamp covers. The bulb top must be completely exposed for the sensor to function correctly.
- The bulb should be installed downward and no higher than 13 feet (approximately 4 meters) to ensure proper sensor detection.
- Avoid installing the bulb near direct sunlight, air conditioners, dryers, heaters, or strong electromagnetic wave sources to prevent interference with the sensor.
- If using the bulb in outdoor fixtures, ensure it is protected from water while keeping the sensor parts on top of the bulb unobstructed.
- The bulb supports only normal ON/OFF switches and should always be in the 'ON' position. It is not compatible with sound and light control switches, human body touch switches, human body sensor switches, or sound and light control lamp stands.
Product Features
- Quality Inspection Mode: Upon initial power-on, the bulb will illuminate for 60 seconds, regardless of ambient light or motion. This allows for functional verification. After 60 seconds, it transitions to motion sensor mode.
- Advanced Lighting Control Technology: Built-in dusk-to-dawn sensor automatically activates detection mode when ambient darkness falls below 10 lux (at dusk or night). The LED light bulb will not activate during daytime when light intensity exceeds 10 lux, conserving energy.
- PIR Smart Infrared Thermal Motion Technology: Automatically turns lights on when human or animal movement is detected in darkness within the detection range.
- Automatic Shut-off: The light turns off approximately 30 seconds after movement ceases in the detection area.
- Continuous Movement Detection: If continuous human activity is detected within the range, the light will remain on, resetting the 30-second countdown from the last detected movement.
- Detection Range: Approximately 9-20 feet (2.7-6.1 meters), depending on installation height and environmental factors.
Installation
- Ensure the power to the light fixture is turned off before installation.
- Screw the HEKEE Motion Sensor LED Light Bulb into a standard E26 base socket.
- Confirm the bulb is installed downward and the sensor on top is completely exposed, free from glass or lamp covers.
- Verify the installation height is between 10-13 feet for optimal motion detection.
- Turn on the power to the light fixture. The bulb will enter Quality Inspection Mode, lighting up for 60 seconds, then switch to Motion Sensor Mode.

Image Description: This image illustrates correct and incorrect installation scenarios. The top left shows a correct installation in an open, downward-facing fixture. The middle and bottom left show incorrect installations where the bulb is covered by glass or facing upwards, which obstructs the sensor. The right side shows a person walking up stairs, indicating an ideal installation height of 10-13 feet for motion detection.
Operation
Quality Inspection Mode
When the bulb is first powered on, it will light up for 60 seconds. This mode is designed to confirm the bulb is functioning correctly. After 60 seconds, it will automatically transition to Motion Sensor Mode.

Image Description: This diagram explains two modes. The top section, 'Quality Inspection Mode', shows a hand turning on a switch, leading to the bulb lighting up for 60 seconds, regardless of day or night. The bottom section, 'Motion Sensor Mode', illustrates the bulb turning on when motion is detected within a 110-degree sensing area in darkness, and staying off when no motion is detected or when outside the sensing area.
Motion Sensor Mode
In Motion Sensor Mode, the bulb operates based on ambient light and motion detection:
- Dusk-to-Dawn Functionality: The bulb will only activate its motion detection capabilities when the ambient light level is below 10 lux (i.e., at dusk or during nighttime). It will remain off during the day to save energy.
- Motion Activation: When motion from a human or animal is detected within the sensor's range (9-20 feet, 110-degree angle) in dark conditions, the bulb will illuminate.
- Automatic Deactivation: The light will turn off approximately 30 seconds after the last detected movement.
- Continuous Illumination: If motion is continuously detected within the sensing area, the bulb will remain lit, and the 30-second countdown will reset with each new detection.

Image Description: This four-panel image demonstrates the bulb's motion sensor mode. Panel 1 shows the light off during the daytime even with motion. Panel 2 shows the light automatically turning on at night when a person passes by. Panel 3 shows the light remaining on with continuous motion. Panel 4 shows the light automatically turning off 30 seconds after motion stops.

Image Description: This image displays the motion sensor's detection capabilities. A person and a dog are shown walking near an outdoor light fixture. The diagram indicates a 110-degree detection angle and a detection range of 17-20 feet, with an optimal installation height of 13 feet.
Placement Guidelines
The HEKEE Motion Sensor LED Light Bulb is suitable for various locations where automatic lighting is beneficial. Consider the following common applications:
- Front Door: Provides illumination upon approach, enhancing security and convenience.
- Garage: Lights up automatically when entering or exiting, useful when carrying items.
- Corridor: Ideal for hallways, ensuring light is available only when needed.
- Staircase: Improves safety by illuminating steps as you ascend or descend.

Image Description: This image presents four different application examples for the motion sensor light bulb. The top left shows a person and dog at a front door with the light on. The top right shows a person working in a garage with the light on. The bottom left shows two people in a well-lit corridor. The bottom right shows a person carrying a box up a staircase with the light on.

Troubleshooting
- Q: The bulb does not light after installation.
A: The bulb will only light when the ambient brightness is lower than 10 LUX AND someone is passing by. Ensure it is dark enough and motion is present. - Q: The bulb does not light when driving a car into the garage.
A: PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor bulbs detect human or animal motion, not vehicle motion. For vehicle detection, a radar sensor bulb would be more suitable. The PIR sensor bulb will only light when a person exits the car and moves within its detection range. - Q: The bulb turns off too quickly.
A: The bulb is designed to turn off approximately 30 seconds after the last detected motion. If you remain in the area and move, the countdown resets. Ensure there are no obstructions to the sensor. - Q: The bulb stays on during the day.
A: The bulb has a dusk-to-dawn sensor and should not activate if the ambient light is above 10 lux. Check for any conditions that might be blocking light from reaching the sensor, making it perceive darkness.
