5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover located on the back or bottom of the monitor.
  2. Insert the required batteries (typically AA or AAA, check device for specific type) according to the polarity indicators (+ and -) inside the compartment.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  4. The monitor is now powered and ready for use.

5.2 Cuff Placement

  1. Sit in a comfortable position with your feet flat on the floor and your arm resting on a table at heart level.
  2. Slide the cuff onto your bare upper arm, ensuring the air tube points towards your forearm.
  3. The bottom edge of the cuff should be approximately 2-3 cm (about 1 inch) above your elbow.
  4. Wrap the cuff snugly around your arm, making sure it is not too tight or too loose. The indicator mark on the cuff should align with the center of your inner arm.
  5. Connect the air tube from the cuff securely into the air jack on the side of the monitor.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Taking a Measurement

  1. Ensure you have rested for at least 5 minutes before taking a measurement. Avoid eating, drinking caffeine, smoking, or exercising for 30 minutes prior.
  2. Sit upright with your back supported and your arm resting comfortably at heart level.
  3. Press the START/STOP button. The cuff will automatically inflate.
  4. Remain still and silent during the measurement. Do not talk or move your arm.
  5. Once the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate, and your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate will be displayed on the screen.
  6. Press the START/STOP button again to turn off the device, or it will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity.

For consistent results, take measurements at the same time each day.

6.2 Memory Function

The Accumed C5 Cardio Advance typically stores previous measurement results. To access stored readings:

  • With the device off, press the MEM button (if present).
  • Each press of the MEM button will cycle through the stored readings, usually from most recent to oldest.
  • Consult the full printed manual for specific instructions on memory access and deletion.

7. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Wipe the monitor and cuff gently with a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, use a cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild detergent, then wipe dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
