How a K-Cup Pod Works
Freshly ground coffee is sealed in K-Cup pods. Hot water saturates the grounds and flows through a paper filter. Gentle pressure extracts every ounce of rich, full-flavored coffee directly into your cup.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning and descaling are crucial for maintaining the performance and longevity of your Keurig K-Mini Plus brewer.
- Daily Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior of the brewer with a damp, non-abrasive cloth. The drip tray and K-Cup pod holder can be removed and washed with warm, soapy water.
- Descaling: Over time, calcium deposits (scale) can build up in your brewer. Descale your brewer every 3-6 months, or more frequently if you have hard water. Follow Keurig's official descaling solution instructions or use a vinegar solution (10 oz white vinegar, 2 oz water).
- Needle Cleaning: If brewing issues occur, the entrance and exit needles may be clogged. Unplug the brewer. Carefully remove the K-Cup pod holder. Use a paper clip to clear any clogs from the entrance needle (under the lid) and the exit needle (at the bottom of the K-Cup pod holder).
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Brewer not turning on. | Ensure the brewer is securely plugged into a grounded outlet. Try a different outlet. |
| No water dispensing. | Check if the water reservoir is filled to at least the MIN line. Ensure the K-Cup pod is properly seated and the handle is fully lowered. |
| Coffee tastes weak or watery. | Ensure you are using enough water for your desired strength. Try the 'Strong' brew option. Consider descaling the brewer. |
| Brewing stops mid-cycle. | This may indicate a need for descaling. Also, check for clogs in the needles. |
| Grounds in coffee. | Ensure the K-Cup pod is not damaged. Clean the exit needle. |
