1. Introduction

The Breville BDC400BSS Precision Brewer Drip Coffee Maker is designed to deliver third wave specialty coffee automatically in your home. 2. Important Safeguards

4. Setup

Before first use, wash all removable parts (carafe, filter baskets, lid) in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Insert the desired filter basket (cone or flat bottom) into the brew head. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water up to the desired level indicated on the side. Place the glass carafe with its lid securely on the heating plate.

The Breville Precision Brewer offers 6 unique brewing modes and extensive customization options for your coffee.

5.1 Brewing Modes

• Gold: Automatically adjusts water temperature and brew time to meet SCA Gold Cup standards (197 to 204 degrees).
• Fast: For a quicker brew cycle.
• Strong: For a more intense coffee flavor.
• Iced: Optimized for brewing over ice.
• Cold Brew: For a smooth, low-acid cold brew concentrate.
• My Brew: Customize bloom time, brew temperature, and flow rate.

5.2 Customization and Controls

Use the control panel to select your desired brew style and adjust settings.

• Digital Temperature Control (PID): Ensures precise water temperature throughout the brewing process.

6. Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your coffee maker. All removable parts should be washed after each use. The machine also features a descaling function to remove mineral buildup.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

• Remove and empty the filter basket. Discard used coffee grounds and paper filters.
• Wash the filter basket, carafe, and carafe lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
• Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth.

6.2 Descaling

The descaling process removes mineral deposits that can affect brewing performance. Use the provided water hardness test strip to determine your water hardness and frequency of descaling. Follow the instructions in the full user manual for the specific descaling procedure.

7. Troubleshooting

If your Breville Precision Brewer is not operating as expected, refer to the following common issues:

• Coffee not brewing: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged in, the water tank is filled, and the carafe is correctly positioned.
