Welcome to the world of Tamagotchi! This manual provides essential instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Tamagotchi Original virtual pet. The Tamagotchi Original is a digital pet that requires your care and attention to grow and thrive.

Setup

1. Initial Activation

1. Your Tamagotchi comes with a pre-installed CR2032 battery. To activate, pull the plastic tab protruding from the side or back of the device.
2. The Tamagotchi screen will display an egg.

2. Setting the Time

1. Press the B button to display the clock.
2. Hold the A button and press the C button simultaneously. The clock will enter SET mode.
3. Use the A button to adjust the hours and the B button to adjust the minutes.
4. Press the C button to confirm the time setting.

Operating Instructions

Your Tamagotchi has three buttons: A (left), B (middle), and C (right). These buttons are used to navigate menus and interact with your pet.

Basic Care Functions

• Feed: Select the fork and knife icon to feed your Tamagotchi. Choose between a meal (fills hunger) or a snack (fills happiness, but too many can lead to illness).
• Lights: Select the light bulb icon to turn lights on or off. Turn lights off when your Tamagotchi sleeps.
• Play: Select the game icon to play a character game. Winning games increases happiness.
• Medicine: Select the syringe icon if your Tamagotchi becomes sick. Administer medicine to help it recover.
• Toilet: Select the toilet icon to clean up after your Tamagotchi uses the bathroom. Neglecting this will make your pet unhappy and can lead to illness.
• Check Health: Select the heart icon to view your Tamagotchi's status, including hunger, happiness, discipline, and age.
• Discipline: Select the angry face icon to discipline your Tamagotchi if it calls for attention when it doesn't need anything (e.g., full hunger, full happiness, clean).

Muting and Unmuting

To mute the sound, hold down the A button and then press the C button. Repeat this action to unmute the sound.

Growth and Evolution

Your Tamagotchi will evolve through different stages: egg, child, and adult. The care you provide will influence which of the seven adult characters your Tamagotchi will become.

Tamagotchis typically go to sleep between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM and wake up between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM, depending on their age.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

When the screen dims or the device becomes unresponsive, it may be time to replace the battery. The Tamagotchi Original uses one CR2032 lithium metal battery.

1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
2. Use a small screwdriver to open the battery cover.
3. Carefully remove the old CR2032 battery.
4. Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
5. Replace the battery cover and secure it with the screw.
6. After replacing the battery, you may need to reset the time as described in the Setup section.

Cleaning

To clean your Tamagotchi, wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or immerse the device in water.

Troubleshooting

• Device is unresponsive or screen is blank:
  • Check if the battery tab has been removed.
  • Replace the CR2032 battery.
  • If the issue persists, press the reset button (usually a small recessed button on the back) with a pointed object like a pen tip. Note that this will reset your Tamagotchi's progress.
• Tamagotchi is constantly calling for attention:
  • Check its status (hunger, happiness, discipline, cleanliness). Address any needs.
  • If all needs are met, discipline your Tamagotchi using the angry face icon.
• Tamagotchi "dies":
  • Lack of consistent care can lead to your Tamagotchi passing away. You can restart the game by pressing the reset button.
