Dent Fix DF-EZ10
Dent Fix DF-EZ10 Parking Sensor & Lens Hole Maker User Manual
Model: DF-EZ10
Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and effective use of the Dent Fix DF-EZ10 Parking Sensor & Lens Hole Maker. This tool is designed to create precise and clean holes in automotive bumpers for the installation of driver-assist sensors and lenses.
Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when operating any tools. Read and understand all instructions before use. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses and gloves. Keep hands clear of cutting surfaces. Ensure the workpiece is securely stabilized before operation.
Product Components
The Dent Fix DF-EZ10 kit includes various components designed for creating holes of specific diameters. Familiarize yourself with each part before beginning any work.

Figure 1: All components of the DF-EZ10 kit, including various hole punch dies, a bolt, a nut, and a drill bit, laid out on a white surface.

Figure 2: The Dent Fix DF-EZ10 kit neatly organized within its red plastic storage case, showing the various dies and the main cutting assembly.
The kit includes hole punch dies in the following sizes:
- 17mm
- 18mm
- 18.2mm
- 19mm
- 20mm
- 22.5mm
- 24mm
- 26mm
- 26.7mm
- 32mm
Other components include a central bolt, a nut, and a drill bit for pilot holes.
Setup
- Identify Required Hole Size: Determine the exact diameter needed for the parking sensor or lens you intend to install.
- Select Corresponding Dies: Choose the appropriate cutting die and counter-die from the kit that matches the required hole size.
- Assemble the Tool:
- Insert the central bolt through the cutting die.
- Place the material to be cut (e.g., bumper) between the cutting die and the counter-die.
- Secure the counter-die onto the bolt, ensuring the material is sandwiched firmly and correctly aligned.
- Thread the nut onto the bolt, but do not tighten fully yet.
- Prepare the Workpiece: Ensure the bumper or material is clean, dry, and free of obstructions. Mark the precise center point for the hole.
Operating Instructions
- Pilot Hole (Optional but Recommended): If necessary, use the provided drill bit to create a small pilot hole at the marked center point. This can aid in precise placement of the punch.
- Position the Tool: Align the assembled hole maker over the marked location on the bumper. Ensure the cutting die is on the side where the cleanest cut is desired (typically the exterior surface).
- Tighten Manually: Begin tightening the nut onto the bolt using a wrench. Turn slowly and steadily. The tool is designed to cut cleanly through the material as the dies are drawn together.
- Avoid Impact Tools: Do not use an impact wrench or impact driver unless the plastic material is sufficiently heated to increase its pliability. Using impact tools on cold plastic can lead to stripping the bolt or an unclean cut.
- Monitor the Cut: Observe the cutting process. The tool should create a clean, circular hole. If resistance is excessive, stop and re-evaluate alignment or material thickness.
- Complete the Cut: Continue tightening until the dies have fully cut through the material and the slug is separated.
- Remove the Tool: Loosen the nut and carefully disassemble the tool, removing the cut material.
- Test Fit: It is recommended to test fit the sensor or lens into a scrap piece of bumper cover first to confirm the correct die size and cutting technique.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: After each use, clean all components to remove plastic debris and residue. A soft brush or cloth can be used.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light coat of machine oil to the bolt threads to ensure smooth operation and prevent corrosion.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the cutting edges of the dies for wear or damage. Damaged dies may result in unclean cuts.
- Storage: Store the kit in its original case in a dry, clean environment to protect the components from damage and loss.
