2. Safety Instructions

4. Assembly and Setup

4.1 Handle Assembly

  1. Attach the lower handle assembly to the main unit using the provided screws and knobs. Ensure a secure fit.
  2. Connect the upper handle assembly to the lower handle. Adjust the handle height to one of the 3 available positions for comfortable operation, then secure it with the fastening knobs.
  3. Route the power cable along the handle and secure it with the cable clips to prevent it from interfering with operation.

4.2 Roller Installation/Replacement

The HECHT 1999 comes with two interchangeable rollers: one for scarifying and one for aerating.

  1. Ensure the machine is unplugged before changing rollers.
  2. Turn the machine on its side to access the roller compartment.
  3. Locate the roller locking mechanism. Release it to remove the currently installed roller.
  4. Insert the desired roller (scarifier or aerator) into the compartment, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
  5. Verify the roller is firmly seated before returning the machine to its operating position.

4.3 Collection Bag Attachment

  1. Lift the rear flap of the machine.
  2. Hook the collection bag onto the designated attachment points under the flap. Ensure it is securely fastened to prevent debris from escaping.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Working Depth Adjustment

The working depth can be adjusted continuously from -10 mm (scarifying) to +5 mm (aerating).

  1. Locate the depth adjustment lever on the side of the machine.
  2. Move the lever to select the desired working depth. For scarifying, choose a negative setting to allow the claws to penetrate the soil. For aerating, a shallower setting is usually sufficient.
  3. Start with a higher setting and gradually decrease it to avoid damaging the lawn or overloading the motor.

5.2 Starting and Stopping

  1. Connect the power cord to a suitable outdoor power outlet.
  2. Press and hold the safety switch, then pull the operating lever towards the handle to start the motor.
  3. To stop the machine, release the operating lever. The motor will stop automatically.
  4. Always unplug the machine after use.

5.3 Operation Tips

  • Work in straight, overlapping lines across your lawn.
  • Avoid operating on wet grass, as this can clog the machine and reduce effectiveness.
  • Empty the collection bag regularly to maintain optimal performance and prevent clogging.

6. Maintenance
