Introduction

Setup

Unboxing and Components

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. The package includes the rock tumbler machine, two 3LB capacity rubber barrels, 2x0.5lbs of walnut shell media, five V-belts, and this instruction manual. Inspect all parts for any damage before proceeding.

Initial Assembly

The tumbler base is pre-assembled. Ensure the V-belt is correctly seated on the motor pulley and barrel rollers. The improved, leak-proof rubber barrels are designed for quieter operation.

Operating Instructions

Loading the Barrels

1. Unscrew the knurled nut on the barrel lid.
2. Pop off the barrel lid.
3. Fill each barrel with rough rocks. Do not exceed 2/3 full to allow for proper tumbling action.

Adding Grit and Water

1. Add the appropriate grit for the current tumbling stage (e.g., coarse grit for Stage 1).
2. Pour water into the barrel until it just covers the rocks and grit.
3. Securely fasten the barrel lid, ensuring the rubber seal is properly seated to prevent leaks.

Setting Time and Speed

Place the loaded and sealed barrels onto the tumbler rollers. Plug in the power adapter (120V/60Hz). Use the control panel to select the desired tumbling duration (in days) and speed setting according to the instructions provided in the manual for each grit stage. The durable motor allows for continuous operation.

Tumbling Process

The rock tumbling process involves several stages, each using a different grit size to gradually smooth and polish the rocks. Detailed instructions for each stage are provided in the included guide. Regularly check the rocks as instructed to monitor progress and ensure optimal results.

Maintenance

Cleaning

After each tumbling stage, thoroughly clean the barrels and rocks to remove all traces of the previous grit. This prevents contamination and ensures the effectiveness of the next grit size. It is best to wash gritty stones and barrels outside with a garden hose, as grit can damage household drains.

Belt Replacement

The tumbler comes with five V-belts. If a belt wears out or breaks, replace it with a new one. Refer to the detailed instructions in the manual for proper belt replacement procedures.

Troubleshooting

If the tumbler is not operating correctly, check the following:

• Power Connection: Ensure the power adapter is securely plugged into both the tumbler and a working outlet.
• Barrel Placement: Verify that the barrels are properly seated on the rollers and rotating freely.
• Belt Condition: Inspect the V-belt for any signs of wear or breakage. Replace if necessary.
• Overloading: Ensure barrels are not overfilled (maximum 2/3 full) as this can hinder tumbling action.
• Lid Seal: Check that the barrel lids are tightly sealed to prevent leaks and maintain proper pressure.
