3. Setup
3.1 Extending the Handle
To extend the PowerScope Lite handle, press the button located on the top of the handle and pull upwards. The handle has two locking positions at 38 inches and 42.5 inches to accommodate different user heights and preferences. Ensure the handle is fully locked in place before rolling the luggage.
3.2 Initial Packing
Open the main compartment. Utilize the adjustable hold-down straps to secure your clothing and prevent shifting during transit. Place smaller items in the full-length interior lid pocket or the side accessory pocket for easy access and organization. The exterior front pockets are ideal for documents, electronics, or other items you need to reach quickly.
3.3 Using the Expansion Feature
If additional packing space is required, locate the high-tensile-strength zipper around the perimeter of the main compartment. Unzip this section to expand the luggage by up to 2 inches, providing extra volume for your belongings. This feature is designed to maintain stability even when fully expanded.

4.2 Carrying the Luggage
Use the padded top, side, or bottom handles to lift and carry the luggage. These handles provide comfortable grip and make it easy to maneuver the bag into overhead compartments, car trunks, or onto luggage racks.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning Instructions
The exterior of your Maxlite 5 luggage is made from stain-resistant polyester with a DuraGuard coating. For general cleaning, wipe the surface with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these may damage the coating. For stubborn stains, a soft brush can be used gently.
5.2 Wheel and Handle Care
Periodically check the inline skate wheels for any debris or hair that may impede smooth rolling. Clean as necessary. The PowerScope Lite handle is designed for durability; however, avoid excessive force when extending or retracting it. If the handle becomes stiff, a silicone-based lubricant can be applied sparingly to the telescoping tubes.
5.3 Storage
Store your luggage in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure the bag is empty and clean before storing to prevent odors or mildew.
6. Troubleshooting
- Handle is Stiff or Stuck: Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the telescoping tubes of the PowerScope Lite handle. Ensure no debris is obstructing the mechanism.
- Luggage Tips Over When Not Fully Packed: This can occur with two-wheel rollaboards if the weight distribution is uneven or the bag is very light. Pack heavier items towards the bottom of the suitcase to improve stability.
- Zipper Issues: If a zipper is difficult to move, try rubbing a pencil lead or a bar of soap along the teeth to lubricate it. Avoid forcing the zipper, as this can cause damage.
- TSA Lock (if applicable): The Travelpro Maxlite 5 may feature a TSA-approved lock. If you encounter issues with the lock, please refer to the specific lock instructions provided with your luggage. Note that keys are typically not provided for TSA locks, as they are for TSA agent access only.
