6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the charger's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the charger is unplugged from the power source before cleaning.

6.2 Cable Care

To prolong the life of the charging cable:

  • Avoid kinking, twisting, or driving over the cable.
  • Store the cable neatly coiled when not in use. Avoid keeping it tightly coiled when plugged into the vehicle during charging, as this can lead to heat buildup.
  • Ensure the J1772 connector is kept clean and free of debris. Use the protective cap when not in use.

6.3 Storage

When not in use, store the charger in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Utilize a wall bracket or hook to hang the control box and coil the cable to prevent damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your PRIMECOM EV Charger, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Charger not powering on / No displayNo power from outlet; Loose connection; Internal fault.Check outlet power (test with another device). Ensure charger plug is fully inserted. Reset circuit breaker if tripped. If problem persists, contact support.
Charging not initiatingJ1772 connector not fully inserted; Vehicle not ready to charge; Communication error.Ensure J1772 connector is firmly clicked into vehicle port. Check vehicle's charging settings. Disconnect and reconnect the charger.
Red light / Fault indicator onGround fault detected; Overheat; Overvoltage/Overcurrent; Internal error.Unplug charger from wall and vehicle. Wait 5 minutes. Plug back in. If fault persists, check for bent pins in the connector or contact support. (Note: Minor power outages can sometimes trigger a ground fault; resetting the breaker may resolve this).
Slow charging speedVehicle limitation; Electrical system limitation; Charger operating at lower amperage.Verify vehicle's maximum AC charging rate. Ensure the electrical circuit can provide full 16 Amps. The charger is rated for 16 Amps; if faster charging is needed, a higher amperage charger (e.g., 32 Amp) would be required.

If the issue is not resolved by the above steps, please contact PRIMECOMTECH customer support for assistance.
