NOWLEY 8-5588-0-2 Women's Watch Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your NOWLEY 8-5588-0-2 women's watch. Please read this guide thoroughly to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your timepiece. This watch features a silver-colored metal case, a mesh bracelet, and is water-resistant up to 5 ATM.

2. Setup

2.1 Setting the Time

  1. Pull out the crown: Gently pull the crown (the small knob on the side of the watch case) to the outermost position. You may feel a slight click.
  2. Adjust the hands: Rotate the crown in either direction to move the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
  3. Push in the crown: Once the time is set, push the crown back into its original position against the watch case. Ensure it is fully seated to maintain water resistance.

Note: For watches with a second hand, it will stop when the crown is pulled out, allowing for precise time setting.

2.2 Adjusting the Mesh Bracelet

The mesh bracelet is designed for adjustable comfort. To adjust the length:

  1. Open the clasp: Locate the small lever on the clasp. Use a small, flat tool (like a screwdriver or a sturdy paperclip) to lift this lever.
  2. Slide the clasp: Once the lever is lifted, the clasp can slide along the mesh band. Adjust it to your desired wrist size.
  3. Secure the clasp: Press the lever back down firmly until it clicks into place, securing the clasp in its new position. Ensure it is locked to prevent the watch from falling off.

3. Operating the Watch

3.1 Basic Timekeeping

Your NOWLEY watch is a precision quartz timepiece designed for accurate timekeeping. Once the time is set, the watch will operate continuously until the battery requires replacement.

3.2 Water Resistance (WR 5 ATM)

This watch is rated as Water Resistant up to 5 ATM (Atmospheres), which is equivalent to 50 meters (165 feet). This means the watch is suitable for:

  • Daily use, such as hand washing and light rain.
  • Showering (avoiding direct hot water spray and steam).
  • Swimming in shallow water.

Important Precautions:

  • Do not operate the crown or push buttons while the watch is wet or submerged in water.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to sudden temperature changes, as this can compromise the water seals.
  • Water resistance is not a permanent condition and may decrease over time due to wear and tear or impact. It is recommended to have the water resistance checked periodically by a qualified watchmaker.
  • Not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or high-impact water sports.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch:

  • Wipe the case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth.
  • Avoid using chemical cleaners, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch's finish.

4.2 Battery Replacement

When the watch stops running, it indicates that the battery needs to be replaced. Battery replacement should be performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure the watch's water resistance and proper functioning are maintained. Attempting to replace the battery yourself may void the warranty and damage the watch.

4.3 Storage

When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. Keeping it in its original box or a watch case can help protect it from dust and scratches.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Watch Not Running

  • Check the crown: Ensure the crown is fully pushed in. If it is pulled out, the watch will not run.
  • Battery: The battery may be depleted. Refer to section 4.2 for battery replacement.

5.2 Time Inaccuracy

  • Battery: A low battery can sometimes cause the watch to run slowly or erratically.
  • Magnetic fields: Exposure to strong magnetic fields (e.g., from speakers, refrigerators, or certain electronic devices) can affect the watch's accuracy. Move the watch away from such sources.
  • Impact: A severe impact may affect the internal mechanism.

5.3 Water Inside the Watch

If you notice condensation or water droplets inside the watch, immediately take it to a qualified watch technician. Do not attempt to dry it yourself, as this can cause further damage. This indicates a compromise in the watch's water resistance.
