1. Product Overview

4. Setup and Installation

The Flex Pump is designed for easy integration into existing spray systems that use 3/4" quick attach ports.

1. Mounting: Securely mount the pump in a dry, protected location. Ensure the mounting surface is stable and can support the pump's weight. The pump can be mounted in any position.
2. Plumbing Connections: Connect the inlet and outlet hoses to the 3/4" Quick Attach ports. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks. The pump has excellent self-priming capability, but it is recommended to keep the inlet hose as short and straight as possible.
3. Electrical Connections: Connect the pump to a 12 VDC power source. The pump comes with 14 AWG leads, 6" long, with a 2-pin connector. Ensure correct polarity (red wire to positive, black wire to negative). It is recommended to install an appropriate fuse in the positive power line close to the battery.
4. System Priming: Before initial operation, ensure the system is filled with liquid to aid in priming. The pump is capable of being run dry, but prolonged dry running is not recommended.

5. Operating Instructions

The Delavan Flex Pump is a demand pump, meaning it operates only when liquid flow is required by the system.

1. Power On: Ensure the pump is properly connected to a 12 VDC power source. Turn on the power to the pump.
2. Initiate Flow: Open the spray gun or boom valve. The pump will automatically start to deliver liquid.
3. Demand Operation: When the spray gun or boom is closed, the pump's internal pressure switch will sense the pressure build-up and automatically shut off. The pump will remain off until the demand for liquid resumes.
4. Monitoring: Periodically check for leaks and ensure consistent flow during operation. The maximum liquid temperature for operation is 140°F.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Delavan Flex Diaphragm Pump.

• Cleaning: After each use, especially when pumping chemicals, flush the pump and system with clean water to prevent residue buildup and corrosion.
• Inspection: Periodically inspect hoses, connections, and the pump body for any signs of wear, damage, or leaks. Replace worn components as necessary.
• Winterization: In freezing temperatures, drain all liquid from the pump and system to prevent damage from ice expansion. Running RV antifreeze through the pump can also provide protection.
• Storage: Store the pump in a dry, protected environment when not in use.

Pump Does Not Run:

• No Power: Check electrical connections, fuse, and battery voltage. Ensure the power switch is on.
• Wiring: Verify correct polarity (red to positive, black to negative).
• Pressure Switch: If the pump is under pressure, the demand switch will keep it off. Open a valve to release pressure.

Low Flow or No Pressure:

• Clogged Inlet/Outlet: Check for obstructions in hoses, filters, or nozzles.
• Air Leak: Inspect all plumbing connections for air leaks, especially on the inlet side.
• Low Voltage: Ensure the 12 VDC power source is providing adequate voltage.
• Worn Components: Diaphragm or valve wear can reduce performance. Contact support for replacement parts.

Pump Cycles On and Off Rapidly:

• System Leak: Check for leaks in the plumbing system (hoses, fittings, spray gun). Even small leaks can cause cycling.
• Restricted Flow: A partially clogged nozzle or hose can cause the pump to reach shut-off pressure too quickly.
• Pressure Switch Adjustment: The pressure switch may need adjustment or replacement if it's faulty.
