Operating Instructions
Brewing Coffee
- Open the lid of the coffee maker.
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the desired number of cups indicated on the water level gauge. Do not exceed the MAX fill line.
- Place a paper filter (size 1x4 or similar) into the removable filter basket, or use the permanent filter if supplied.
- Add your desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is one level scoop (using the integrated spoon) per cup, but adjust to your taste.
- Slide the filter basket back into its holder and close the lid securely.
- Ensure the glass carafe with its lid is correctly placed on the heating plate.
- Plug the appliance into a power outlet.

WhirlTech Brewing Technology
The Russell Hobbs Adventure Filter Coffee Maker features WhirlTech brewing technology. This innovative showerhead design ensures that water is distributed evenly over the coffee grounds in a swirling motion. This optimal saturation extracts maximum flavor and aroma from your ground coffee, resulting in a richer and more satisfying brew.

Figure 5: An illustrative view of the WhirlTech showerhead, demonstrating how water is evenly dispersed over the coffee grounds for enhanced flavor extraction.
Keep Warm Function
After the brewing cycle is complete, the heating plate will automatically activate to keep your coffee warm. This function will maintain the coffee at an optimal serving temperature for approximately 40 minutes, after which the appliance will automatically shut off for safety and energy saving.
Anti-Drip System
The anti-drip system allows you to temporarily remove the carafe during the brewing cycle to pour a cup of coffee without drips. The flow of coffee will pause automatically. Replace the carafe within 20 seconds to prevent overflow from the filter basket.
Using the Integrated Measuring Spoon
Your coffee maker includes a convenient measuring spoon that stores directly on the machine. Use this spoon to ensure consistent coffee dosage for optimal taste. One level scoop typically corresponds to one cup of brewed coffee.

Care and Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your coffee maker.
Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Remove the filter basket and discard any used coffee grounds and paper filter.
- Wash the glass carafe, its lid, and the removable filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
- Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Do not immerse the main body of the coffee maker, its cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
Descaling
Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting its performance and the taste of your coffee. Descale your appliance regularly, depending on the hardness of your water and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-4 weeks).
- Prepare a descaling solution by mixing white vinegar and cold water in equal parts, or use a commercial descaling agent designed for coffee makers, following its instructions.
- Pour the descaling solution into the water reservoir up to the MAX fill line.
- Place an empty paper filter in the filter basket (or use the permanent filter).
- Place the empty carafe on the heating plate.
- Turn on the coffee maker and allow half of the solution to brew through.
- Turn off the coffee maker and let it stand for at least 15 minutes to allow the solution to work.
- Turn the coffee maker back on and allow the remaining solution to brew through.
- Discard the descaling solution from the carafe.
- Run at least two full cycles with fresh, cold water only to rinse the coffee maker thoroughly and remove any residual descaling solution.
