Setup: Programming Instructions

Follow these steps to program your CARMATOR remote control to your garage door opener. A ladder may be required to access the learn button on your garage door opener motor unit.

  1. Step 1: Locate the Learn Button
Find the Smart/Learn button on the back of the motor unit hanging in your garage. Ensure it is a purple button.
  2. Step 2: Activate Learn Mode
Press and immediately release the Learn button on the motor unit. The learn indicator light on the motor unit will glow steadily for 30 seconds or less. This indicates the opener is in programming mode.
  3. Step 3: Program the Remote
Within 30 seconds of activating learn mode, press and hold the desired button on your CARMATOR remote control. Release the button when the garage door opener lights blink or two clicks are heard. This confirms the remote is programmed.

Note: If you have multiple garage doors or gates, you can program the other two buttons on the remote control by repeating these steps for each additional opener.

Maintenance: Battery Replacement

The remote control uses a CR2032 coin cell battery. If the remote's range decreases or it stops responding, the battery may need replacement.

  1. Locate the small notch on the side of the remote control casing.
  2. Carefully pry open the casing using a small flat-head screwdriver or a coin.
  3. Remove the old CR2032 battery.
  4. Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  5. Snap the remote control casing back together securely.

Troubleshooting

  • Remote not working after programming:
    • Ensure the garage door opener has a purple learn button.
    • Repeat the programming steps carefully, ensuring the learn button on the motor unit is pressed and released quickly, and the remote button is held until the opener responds.
    • Check the remote's battery.
    • Ensure you are within range of the garage door opener during programming and operation.
  • Limited range:
    • Replace the remote's battery.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the garage door opener.
  • Remote controls multiple doors unintentionally:
    • Each button on the remote can be programmed independently. Ensure you are pressing the correct button for the intended garage door.
    • If a button was accidentally programmed to the wrong opener, simply reprogram it to the correct one.
