1. Important Safety Information

Please read and understand all instructions before installing or using this GFCI plug. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

2. Product Overview

The WELLONG GFCI Plug Replacement is a 15 Amp, 3-prong device designed to protect users and appliances from electric shock. It automatically breaks the circuit within 0.03 seconds if an electrical leakage is detected. This plug is suitable for replacing general plugs on various appliances and tools, including pressure washers, pool pumps, hair dryers, electric water heaters, heating radiators, washing machines, ovens, air conditioners, electric drills, instruments, and meters.

3. Installation Instructions

This GFCI plug is designed for replacement of existing plugs. Professional installation is recommended if you are not familiar with electrical wiring.

3.1 Wiring Connections

  1. Prepare the Cable: Carefully strip the outer jacket of your appliance's power cord to expose the three internal wires: Live (typically black), Neutral (typically white), and Ground (typically green or bare copper).
  2. Open the Plug Housing: Unscrew and open the GFCI plug housing to access the internal terminals.
  3. Connect Wires:
    • Connect the black (Live) wire to the terminal marked 'L'.
    • Connect the white (Neutral) wire to the terminal marked 'N'.
    • Connect the green (Earth/Ground) wire to the terminal marked 'E'.

    Ensure all wire strands are securely fastened under the screw terminals and no loose strands are present.

  4. Secure the Cable: Ensure the cable is properly secured by the strain relief mechanism within the plug housing to prevent accidental pulling or damage to the connections.
  5. Close the Housing: Carefully close the plug housing and secure it with the screws. Ensure no wires are pinched.

4. Operating Instructions

After successful installation, the GFCI plug is ready for use. Always perform a test before connecting an appliance.

4.1 Initial Power-Up and Reset

  1. Plug the GFCI into a standard 120V AC, 60Hz outlet.
  2. Press the RESET button. The indicator light should illuminate, indicating power is supplied through the GFCI.

5. Testing Procedures

Regular testing of the GFCI plug is essential to ensure it is functioning correctly and providing protection against electrical shock. Test before each use.

5.1 Standard Test

  1. Ensure the GFCI plug is plugged into an active outlet and the indicator light is ON (after pressing RESET if necessary).
  2. Press the TEST button. The indicator light should turn OFF, and you may hear a click. This indicates the GFCI has tripped and interrupted the power.
  3. Press the RESET button. The indicator light should turn ON again, restoring power.

If the GFCI does not trip when the TEST button is pressed, or if it does not reset when the RESET button is pressed, do not use the GFCI plug. It may be faulty and should be replaced immediately.

6. Maintenance

The WELLONG GFCI plug requires minimal maintenance. Keep the plug clean and free from debris. Regularly inspect the cord and plug for any signs of damage, such as cuts, fraying, or discoloration. If any damage is observed, discontinue use and replace the plug immediately.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 GFCI Will Not Reset

  • No Power: Check if the outlet has power. Try plugging another device into the same outlet.
  • Overload/Fault: An appliance connected to the GFCI may have a ground fault or be drawing too much current. Disconnect the appliance and try resetting the GFCI. If it resets, the appliance is likely faulty.
  • Damaged GFCI: If the GFCI still does not reset after disconnecting all appliances and confirming power to the outlet, the GFCI itself may be damaged and needs replacement.

7.2 GFCI Trips Frequently

  • Appliance Fault: The appliance connected to the GFCI may have an intermittent ground fault. Try connecting a different appliance to see if the GFCI still trips.
  • Moisture: If used in a damp environment, moisture might be causing nuisance tripping. Ensure the plug and connections are dry and sealed.
  • Overload: The appliance might be drawing more current than the GFCI is rated for (15 Amps). Check the appliance's power requirements.
