iFilters Drinking Water Replacement Filter Set

Model: IFD-U3PK

For 3 Stage Filtration Systems

1. Product Overview

The iFilters IFD-U3PK is a comprehensive 3-stage replacement filter set engineered to provide clean, great-tasting water by significantly reducing a wide range of contaminants. This set is specifically designed as an OEM replacement for iFilters U300 and U300UV Under-sink Drinking Water Filtration Systems, and is compatible with any standard filtration system using 2.5" by 10" filters.

Three iFilters replacement water filters: a white sediment filter, a white KDF/GAC filter, and a blue-capped carbon block filter.

2. Components Included

This replacement filter set includes the following three filters:

  • Stage 1: SD1-2510 - Sediment Filter
Filters and reduces dirt, sand, silt, sediment, and rust particles from the water. This is the first line of defense, protecting subsequent filters.
  • Stage 2: KDF05-10 - GAC/KDF Filter
Filters and reduces heavy metals, chlorine, taste, odor, bacteria, and algae. This stage utilizes Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and Kinetic Degradation Fluxion (KDF) media for broad-spectrum contaminant reduction.
  • Stage 3: CBSM-2510 - Sub-micron Carbon Block Filter
Further filters and reduces chlorine taste and odor, Cysts (such as cryptosporidium and giardia), lead, parasites, cloudiness (turbidity), THMs (trihalomethanes), VOCs (volatile organic chemicals), and asbestos. This filter provides 0.5 micron filtration for enhanced purity.

3. Setup and Installation

These filters are designed for easy replacement in compatible 3-stage under-sink filtration systems. Always refer to your specific system's manual for detailed installation instructions. The general steps are as follows:

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate the cold water supply line to your filtration system and turn off the water. Depressurize the system by opening the filtered water faucet.
  2. Prepare for Filter Removal: Place a towel or small bucket under the filter housings to catch any residual water.
  3. Remove Old Filters: Use a filter wrench (if provided with your system) to unscrew the filter housings. Carefully remove the old filters.
  4. Clean Housings: Clean the inside of the filter housings with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Inspect and replace O-rings if they appear damaged or worn.
  5. Insert New Filters: Insert the new filters into their respective housings. Ensure correct orientation if specified by your system. The order is typically: Stage 1 (Sediment), Stage 2 (GAC/KDF), Stage 3 (Carbon Block).
  6. Secure Housings: Screw the filter housings back onto the system head. Hand-tighten, then use the filter wrench for a final snug turn, being careful not to overtighten.
  7. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the cold water supply to the system. Check for leaks around the filter housings.
  8. Flush System: Open the filtered water faucet and allow water to run for 5-10 minutes to flush out any carbon fines or air from the new filters. The water may appear cloudy initially; this is normal.

Note: For U300UV systems, the UV bulb typically requires replacement every 12 months. The IFD-U3PK-UV set includes the filters and a UV bulb for this purpose.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed and flushed, your iFilters 3-stage system with the IFD-U3PK replacement filters will continuously provide filtered water. The system operates automatically when the filtered water faucet is opened.

For optimal performance and longevity of your filtration system, ensure that the water supply pressure is within the recommended range for your specific system model.

5. Maintenance and Filter Replacement

Regular filter replacement is crucial for maintaining water quality and system efficiency. The lifespan of the filters can vary depending on water quality and usage.

Filter Replacement Schedule:

  • The IFD-U3PK filter set is designed to last approximately 6-12 months under typical usage conditions.
  • Replace filters sooner if you notice a significant drop in water flow, a return of unpleasant taste or odor, or visible sediment in your filtered water.

Replacement Procedure:

Follow the steps outlined in the 'Setup and Installation' section (Section 3) to replace the filters. It is recommended to replace all three filters simultaneously for consistent performance.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Water LeakageLoose housing, damaged O-ring, incorrect filter seating.Ensure housings are tightened correctly. Inspect O-rings for damage and replace if necessary. Re-seat filters properly.
Low Water FlowClogged filters, air in the system, kinked supply line.Replace filters if they are old or heavily used. Flush the system to remove air. Check supply lines for kinks.
Unpleasant Taste/Odor ReturnsFilters are exhausted.Replace the filter set.
Cloudy Water After Filter ChangeAir or carbon fines from new filters.Flush the system for 5-10 minutes until water runs clear. This is normal.
