2. Important Safety Information

WARNING: Read and understand all safety precautions before operating this generator. Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or death.

2.1 Carbon Monoxide Hazard

Generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. Breathing carbon monoxide can cause nausea, fainting, or death. NEVER operate the generator indoors or in poorly ventilated areas. Always operate outdoors in an open area, away from windows, doors, and vents.

2.2 Fire Hazard

Gasoline is highly flammable and its vapors are explosive. DO NOT refuel the generator while it is running or hot. Always refuel in a well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources. Store fuel in an approved container in a cool, well-ventilated place.

2.3 Electrical Shock Hazard

Improper use can lead to electrical shock. DO NOT operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all electrical connections are secure and dry. Use only grounded extension cords and appliances.

2.4 Hot Surfaces

The generator's engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for a period after shutdown. AVOID touching hot surfaces. Allow the generator to cool completely before handling or performing maintenance.

4. Initial Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove the generator from its packaging. Inspect for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. Ensure all components listed in the packing list are present.

4.2 Adding Engine Oil

Your generator is shipped without engine oil. Before first use, you must add the recommended amount of engine oil. Refer to the specifications section for oil type and capacity.

1. Place the generator on a level surface.
2. Unscrew and remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
3. Slowly pour the recommended oil into the oil fill opening until it reaches the upper mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
4. Replace the oil fill cap/dipstick securely.

4.3 Adding Fuel

Use only fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use E85 or any other fuel containing more than 10% ethanol.

1. Ensure the generator is turned OFF and has cooled down.
2. Clean the area around the fuel cap to prevent dirt from entering the fuel tank.
3. Slowly remove the fuel cap.
4. Carefully pour gasoline into the fuel tank, filling it no more than 1 inch below the top of the filler neck to allow for fuel expansion.
5. Securely replace the fuel cap.
6. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.

4.4 Grounding the Generator

For safety, it is recommended to properly ground the generator before operation. Connect a ground wire from the generator's grounding terminal to an appropriate ground source, such as a ground rod.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Starting the Generator

1. Ensure the generator is on a level surface and away from any obstructions.
2. Turn the PowerDial to the CHOKE position.
3. Pull the recoil starter handle firmly and steadily until the engine starts.
4. Once the engine starts, slowly turn the PowerDial to the RUN position.
5. Allow the generator to warm up for a few minutes before connecting electrical loads.

5.2 Connecting Electrical Devices

Once the generator is running smoothly, you can connect your electrical devices. Ensure the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed the generator's running wattage.

• Plug your devices into the appropriate 120V AC outlets or USB ports.
• For sensitive electronics, ensure the generator is operating in Economy Mode (if desired) to provide clean power.

5.3 Economy Mode

The Economy Mode switch allows the engine speed to automatically adjust to the load, improving fuel efficiency and reducing noise levels when full power is not required. Toggle the Economy Mode switch to ON for quieter operation and extended run times.

5.4 Parallel Operation

The Generac GP3000i is parallel-ready, allowing you to connect two identical units together using a parallel kit (sold separately) to double your power output. Follow the instructions provided with the parallel kit for proper connection and operation.

5.5 Stopping the Generator

1. Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
2. Allow the generator to run for a few minutes without load to cool down.
3. Turn the PowerDial to the OFF position.

For extended storage, prepare the generator by draining the fuel system or adding a fuel stabilizer. Change the engine oil, clean the exterior, and store in a dry, well-ventilated area.
